You have to understand that, to a lot of the luddites playing this, that literally is what makes a game "old school." Apparently, you can only capture the authentic old-school experience by preserving as many archaic, outdated design decisions as humanly possible, regardless of whether they actually add anything meaningful to the gameplay.
There's a difference between preserving the mechanics that made old-school MMOs compelling and blindly reproducing the limitations of the era in which they were created. There's a reason some of those old design conventions existed in the first place. Sometimes they served a legitimate gameplay purpose, but mostly they were simply the product of technological limitations, interface constraints, or design conventions that we've since learned to improve upon.
But apparently, merely suggesting that you could modernize an unnecessarily clunky interaction without fundamentally changing the old-school MMO experience is tantamount to sacrilege. God forbid you make interacting with the world more intuitive. That might make the game too accessible, and we can't have that.
There's a difference between preserving the spirit of old-school MMO design and fetishizing its limitations. You'd think that distinction wouldn't be particularly controversial, but apparently, for some people, authenticity is measured by how many decades-old inconveniences you can faithfully recreate.

There is something to how MnM feels - the combat, WAY faster than EQ... but... everything else /feels/ EQ-- way way more than patheon and itsbrowntown even did

Not sure, got into the entrance group. And they said there was another group deeper in. Honestly not sure how deep that complex goes. Jumped in the well early on in one of the open playtests, and learned about them there. That jump in did not go well.
Good exp and excellent cash tho. Some kinda caster loot quest with a book and pages too.

100%, I was noticing this as well. The combat pacing, regens, and frequency feels more modern but in a kind of subtle way. It feels like how I remember EQ, but I know EQ was way slower with longer downtimes, less casts per manabar, etc.

I am hopeful that the UD SK sword is a full 1-60 upgrade path to an “epic” weapon, would be cool.
I also hope there is progression of the DE house cloak, haste on it would be win - would be insane for house - class armor sets…but one cannot trust a hope.
People need to understand what “camps” mean. Seriously. And no, just because your group can KS me does not mean you can.. i am on the entire opposing side of the clearing killing like 2 bros.. no, you will loose the petition for KSing not me for “camp stealing”

Yea man they really went too far with the visual nonsense, shits too dark and sandstorms too crazy. I’m not saying remove it, just tweak it some. Maybe they are still tuning that, I dunno but I know they are not gonna remove those elements. Same with the shelter bullshit. This stuff is almost uniformly unpopular but they don’t seem to care. They are definitely well aware of how hated it is

Also, I can vouch from experience these guys are not as bad as you’d think at finding people breaking game rules, given how small their team is. They have some dedicated gms and lots of tattle tale gamers to help them. It takes them a long time because they don’t have the staffing but they do get around to a lot of the shady business.
Shawn has come out and said very clearly said( if you see something, say something, and there are hall monitor types ready to petition people they think are boxing or macroing etc, and those definitely do get addressed. So make sure you’re fairly secluded if you are doing something that is obvious. Stuff like noodles app I doubt they can catch.

They are super strong. YOu get all the best Ench spells + Tanking. So if your CC sucks you can just take control.
got to 16 w my shammy, proudly bought the needed spells. cast the new heals and a chunk of my mana flies away. obviously need wis items now but everything with stats are again expensive!

That keeps happening, my main hot is a quarter of my total mana at 29. Good news is you have consume and usually only have to cast it once as it will bring most tanks to full health while getting beat on.
