Imagine being a Rampage member

You take off from your help desk job for a week using your PTO

You play all week pooping in socks and subsisting on pizza rolls in your minivan down by the river

All that time, flushed down the toilet, banned for picking up plants lmfao

I think the mud system could be kind of fun if they implemented it better. Maybe having a menu come up when you right click an object with the mud commands in it, and let the player try to choose the best way to interact with an object (or even a mob). Could even allow for alternate outcomes.

Having the whole thing as mostly typing in commands is kind of a bummer. I mean they can co-exist, but it feels old even to me who played EQ back in the day.

His post comes off as infuriatingly sanctimonious to me, but I know it's because of my situation.

I'm not going to keep rehashing what happened, but I wasn't sure if it was a bug or a mechanic. Still, I stopped after an hour out of an abundance of caution. The hotfix didn't happen for like 12 hours after my 'offense.' And if 5 or 6 stacks (I didn't even fill a goddamn backpack) of fucking herbs gathered under uncertain conditions is worth a permanent ban -- then fuck you and your game.

Furthermore, people were running all over the place around me and I made absolutely no attempt to hide what I was doing. Again, because I didn't feel like I was doing anything wrong.

*Edit*
Other than Shawn, I know absolutely nothing about any body of the M&M team so I looked in to Trent and this is quote from one of his forum posts -- "Calling a Wood Elf "knife ear" is fine. Calling a Deep Elf (or, really, anyone) "darkie" is not."

After reading that, I am not even remotely surprised by the way this guy conducts himself.

'Illegitimately?'

I don't know for sure. Somewhere between 100-150? Each node gave 1-3.

It sucks you got banned and I would have exploited it if I had found it too. But now I won’t do that if I find something suspicious. Bans for exploits like this send a strong signal to the players. For the game overall it’s a good ban, just not for you. May your sacrifice be remembered.

My man...
If you think I sat at a single node and just looted it non-stop for an hour, you couldn't be more wrong.

First, it didn't work like that. Second, I was following my normal gathering track and two of the nodes (same plant type) were the ones respawning erratically. The node would re-pop a few times (sometimes instantly, sometimes with a few second delay) and then stop completely and I'd carry on my path. When I swung back by it'd be back up and I'd grab as many as it'd let me. The way it was behaving is what led me to think it may be some kind of linked node system and I was just getting super lucky.

I spent more time running around that hour than actually gathering.... I mean come on, man. I looted 5 or 6 stacks....If I just sat there spamming gather I would have had more than I could possibly carry in an hour.

It always amazes me when Dev's are so fucking sanctimonious that they punish their own customers for their fuck-ups. In Grabbit's example, he didn't cheat or find an exploit. He played the game. The game incentivizes you to find and gather mat's for your profession... and they give him the death penalty for doing that? WTF lol.

Think about a scale from 1 - 10 of egregiousness:

10 - You hack the game servers, steal credit card numbers, delete other people characters, and enrich your own.
8- You find a dupe bug and destroy a server economy.
6- ShowEQ level stuff, warping, manipulation of in-game stuff with GM level powers.
5- Scamming other players, intentional training, repeated egregious harassment, ninja-looting and generally taking advantage of their good-will.
4- Non-intended use of in-game mechanics, LOS, Pathing, Etc.
2- Find a repeatable quest, great source of money, exp, etc. Everything above board, you just find and do something that is better than intended.
1- Name violations, unintentional training, or being annoying in the chat channels.

If you are giving the death penalty to anything lower than a 6, you are straight up Re-Fucking-Tarded and a massive pussy. Own your fuckup, handle it quietly, give a slap on the wrist, and tell the player that you might even have given them a week of free game time in the future if they were the first to report that something seems off here and reported it.
