Combat is too fast to have CC like EQ being meaningful.

There were many many times in EQ groups and raid times where there were enchanters and druids doing CC - and I as a SK and other SKs would taunt the messed mobs with non-breaking Agro things, so- if a cc broke the enchanter would not get smushed… and then CC would start to collapse and then a wipe.

There are soo many things at play in that in just a dynamic between 3 classes.

But…all of that dynamic, the tension, the everyone doing their job and stretching their abilities and looking at things different etc. all is because there is time… the raid/ group cannot just burn down all the mobs - right now, your blanket AoE mez/stun is enough to do whatever you need and that is also why other CC people can fill in 90% of the use cases for enchanter.

As long as the ench/bard that I am bringing along have their shit together for the CC, IDC what they do. I dont depend on the them for damage.

Basic group comp I aim for is 1 tank (me), 1 heal, 1 CC'er, 3 dps.

My group started Sunken Resort at level 32. We crawled through the dungeon three nights running. I don't think we'd have had the same level of success with a bard as we've had with an enchanter. We needed to recast 1-minute mezzes in the depths of the dungeon, the ethereal corpse and echo of the unfinished stuff was killable but a bit of a stretch for us.

If you guys are in Fallen Watch i guarantee you're using enchanters there and need them. What Daidraco described above lines up with my experiene in FW in beta. Going to a dungeon like Rothold in the middle of the great cavern sea (20+ min swim if you haven't skilled up swimming at all), without a res or without a mez, is probably not a great idea. I absolutely wouldn't take or join a group there without an enchanter. It's too far out and too risky.

Pulling up to a camp in glass flats or fallen pass, breaking it open, and sitting there all-day single pulling doesn't require an enchanter. No doubt about that.

Re: Great Cavern Sea and Caves of Irem loot - yes, this stuff is itemized way above the level required to get it. I'm not sure if they put great loot out there to get people to use the zones, or if it's a total disconnect between the people itemizing those areas and the itemization in places like Upper Saman in FP, all the juicy camps in Glass Flats, etc.

edit: just to be clear, I think the enchanter woes are warranted, and charm was way too strong in beta. Enchanter is just not super satisfying to play. I love stabbing shit on my rogue, pressing those buttons feels good. My brother feels like he's the group facilitator with buffs and mezzes, letting us enjoy our classes while he makes sure we're safe and sound to do so.

RoW is a weird fuckin guild.

Evils(dru) runs the guild, the people of the guild are a WIDE spread of people.

Had a group of RoW people absolutely sperg out on people "training" them because they (RoW) camped at the entrance / exit of the cultists in north night harbor. There is ONE fucking entrance...people WILL bring the mobs out. I tell them "hey, I get you are mad but this is the ONE entrance / exit for this place, if you camp here peopel are likely gunna train you." and I'm met with "Maybe YOU should stop being a dick and training us!!"

Bitch I'm not training you...I'm giving you advice.

Ah ok this makes sense then. I tucked myself away pretty tightly where I couldn't be aggroed but if you know the road in Irem there is an ass fuck of room to camp places. He kept pulling mobs like directly on top of me and fighting them. He was also taking forever and every battle was his full HP bar. I got up and left and he did it once more until I went like the opposite side of the ghouls away from him. Just kinda weird. They weren't dangerous mobs to me but that's some shit etiquette.

Some patch notes are on the stream but no post yet. From what I have seen, they made Blind worth casting, rangers got more buffs, bst got a nerf. Enchanters got a little love but only seeing snippets.

Couldn't it just raise their miss chance like you'd expect blind to do in any other game?
