Day1 of the modern pro tour was fuckin out there. An 8-0 deck featuring Drowner of Hope and Vile Aggregate.

I'd put good odds on Eye of Ugin getting banned at some point. It generates too much mana. Beyond that, I am loving these eldrazi decks.

Good thing we've got 54 weeks until the next Modern Banned/Rotation list

Not having to worry about Twin makes it a lot less frightening to rock a 0 creature-removal maindeck. Greed must be rewarded!

Some of those Eldrazi games on Camera looked a lot like Elves! when it actually fires properly. Main difference is one deck's mana accelerant can't be bolted/pyroclasm'd

They don't generally release many decklists until after day 2, only the people who were willing to do deck techs.

Was this sarcasm or did I miss a policy change? They have always had a B&R announcement with each new set, so it should be only 10ish more weeks until a new list.

The CFB Eldrazi deck is mono-colorless with Simian Spirit Guide to play a turn 1 Chalice of the Void (closes down burn and all sorts), 4 ofs Endless One, Eldrazi Mimic, Thought-Knot Seer, Reality Smasher, with Dismember, Blinkmoth Nexus and Mutavault.

Eldrazi Mimic was my biggest pre release order. Think it went under the radar for a lot of folk but how can this card which costs 0 cmc with Eye in play not be good. Plays great with Endless One.


This deck btw is running at around a 75% win rate across the 20 or so people running it. Every single person on the two ten man teams made day two with 3 on 7-1 and 6 on 6-2 (remember 3 rounds were draft, then 5 modern).

As to the Eldrazi deck at the PT, wasn't that the same kind of stats they were running on the Thopter Deck? Which then collapsed once the meta accommodated for it after its breakout performance? 4x Chalice has to account for 5-10% of that winrate by itself, judging by how it keep Blue Tron afloat on MTGO. As it turns out, a format chock full of linear, non-interactive strategies heavily invested in 1 mana cards hates that shit.

LSV had t1 Simian Spirit + Chalice both games he won vs Yuuya's Gristlebrand deck. Must be nice to be on the RL Whitelist as well.

Buddy of mine locally is playing Eldrazi as black/green with guides + chalices. It gives him the early chalice rush alongside Worldbreaker, and holy shit is that match a nightmare.

Appears Frank Lepore is on a "Sultai" Eldrazi list running Worldbreaker as well.

Really Big Acidic Slime is manly.

They don't want to support Loony Toons callous missrepresentation of mobsters.

This Eldrazi nonsense is all over the place. Eye of Ugin is just nuts.

Turn 2 Thought-Knot Seer is unpleasant.

Amusingly, like half the on-camera U/R Drazi wins have been with no Sol-lands in play. Just playing normal lands and draft chaff.

And, the silliness isn't just Sol-land Eldrazi. Affinity winning on camera with a 0 land hand at 30+ life against Lepore's Eldrazi deck. And Instant Speed Goryo's Vengeance Emrakul Shenanigans taking out other Eldrazi. Modern is a format filled with ludicrous linear aggro/combo decks right now.

Wasnt the first reaction after the Twin ban doom and gloom that Tron was going to run wild without Twin to keep it in check?

9-0 with some insane amalgamation of shit. Wow. Modern gonna be awfully different looking forward.
