One of my favorite tv scenes ever. Gives me some hope for Liam, but I sure wouldn't want to try to follow in Leslie's footsteps-all timer in my book. Quoted those movies so much in high school.

I think the issue that most have us have is why on Earth do you need to reboot that classic other than the fact Hollywood is bankrupt on creativity.
I watched his stupid ways to die in the West movie with Liam neeson, and it's probably going to be in the same vein as that, and I don't remember a goddamn thing about that movie other than it wasn't really funny.

This I a can acknowledge and will be willing to see where it goes. But the initial site gag joke and bad CGI made me hesitant.

Right?? The right way to do that gag isn't CGI, it's just cut away to a surprised goon's reaction and back and the little girl is suddenly 6'5" and Drebin.

First of all, it's not a reboot. They clearly acknowledge the old movies in both scenes. It's another sequel.
Second, my theory is that this has been done since the beginning and we're only so acutely aware of it now because of the internet. There are supposedly only 7 basic stories and everything else is just a retelling of them. That's probably true with movies too.

Did you ever wake up one day and say, "Hey I really wish Hollywood would come out with a new Naked Gun movie."
I know I didn't... Maybe it will be entertaining, but I sure as hell won't go see it in a movie theater, but maybe I'll check it out on streaming. I don't have much hope for it though. It'll probably bomb at the box office because your average theater going crowd probably hasn't ever seen any of the originals, and I can't imagine they're not working on them pretty massive budget. Guess that depends on who's just hungry for a paycheck.

That was the first time I ever had to watch a movie multiple times to see an entire scene. I was laughing so hard I kept missing large pieces of it.
Then I discovered porn and needing to watch multiple times to catch an entire scene became commonplace.

To be accurate. MacFarlane's only a producer, not even a credited writer.
The actual director (and co-writer) is Akiva Schaffer, from the Lonely Island (Popstar, Bash Brothers, and a couple non-Lonely Island things like The Watch).
Frankly, if you wanted absurdist humor, the Lonely Island crew is way up on the list for me*, though I am somewhat worried that the biggest joke (OJ) is more meta than absurdist. I never watched Schaffer's Chip and Dale revival from a couple years back, but I thought the biggest knock on it was the meta humor didn't always land (e.g. one of the chipmunks gets plastic surgery to convert from cell animation to CGI, the original Sonic movie design gets screentime, etc.)
