One of the dumbest things this game had is servers with 2K peeps max with 3 factions. You can see how this shit works out in the long run. Just not enough people and not enough turn over in a territory control game.

yep should have been softcapped 5,000 or only 2 factions.

I prefer 3 factions, it works well if done properly like DAoC, Planetside, GW2, ESO etc. But Amazon obviously half-assed it

On my server, they recently merged. Some super sweaty guild came over in the merge, and people from that server all hated them because they would jack the taxes up to max on any territory they owned. So they come to our server, take EF, WW, and BW. But EF is owned by their main guild, and WW and BW by their shell guilds (the BW shell guild is a different faction, but they just invited their main guild people to the fight). BW and WW had almost all t5. They jacked taxes to max on WW and BW, then not EF to funnel people there so their main guild will get most of the gold.

Funny for a dead game they just increased their dev. team size. OPRs pop in the AM, economies are healthy, and after the recent merges they had to open a new server. The game will definitely take the road of ESO and will need some post release percolation. They just did a dev. update video yesterday and its still full steam ahead. I don't bother posting in the thread anymore because the game gets unnecessary hate.

A fresh server was just opened? Didn't hear about that anywhere. It has to be packed from people wanting a "new" economy after all the dupes/ect

My guild packed up and moved to a different server, along with some other ones. Mostly hoping for pvp.

On our previous server, we usually beat almost all invasions. On this new server, they have warhorns everywhere instead of upgraded repeaters, some aren’t using discord or forming proper lane groups, lots of disinformation (they don’t realize AGS removed warhorns buffing non-players and nerfed the effect range)

Like some said “siege don’t shoot brute unless they charge”. I was like, you do realize that if siege all open up on brutes, you can stagger and melt them down before they even leave the corruption?

Gdit we gotta set these kids right. All the people from my server were getting triggered lol

People who are left are like remote tribes cut off from the world. If those people had sources of external information to learn strats, they'd also realize there are other games out there and wouldn't be playing New World.

Their little dev update hinted at upcoming changes, including town mechanics (presumably upgrading, because low pop servers just can’t support upgrades towns since it is all driven by player activity), but it will take a big update to get players to return.

Best they can do is make current Playerbase stable, then work on larger shit and sweeping changes to bring people back

1) Make leveling/catchup easier - you need to grow existing players
2) More end game variety and varied content in general
3) Reduce ability of players to fuck over the entire server - these types of gamers usually just want to watch the world burn and it drives away a much larger chunk of players

Restrict trade skill to one major and one minor (gathering) to maybe try to help the lowbie shit with alts. They NEED alts in this game especially with their crafting systems. Maybe even add in classes so that everyone cant just be everything. This is stupid design IMO, in a mmorpg where there should be population in all level ranges for the game to flourish. If they dont, such a top heavy game will always suffer from player attrition over time. Get rid of travel cost, all of it. Add more fast travel points. Maybe make it like 15 min lockout timer so people dont abuse. Add in mounts for travel.

Get rid of dungeon orbs. RNG in this game makes it that you can run the shit over and over 100 times and not get shit worthwhile anyway so why the lockouts? Inventory stuff should not break only equipped shit. Their dumb travel BS made death traveling a thing anyway. So if you fix travel, all that shit will naturally go away.

Add in more storage and decrease encumbrance on certain things. Yeah I know devs love their inventory and weight management bullshit, but players hate it.

There is more, but OBV we would be here a while.

But in essence they could change all the above and with a lack of content at the end game it does not matter.

Oh and try and fix your infrastructure/code, whatever, so that you can have like 10K people on a server instead of 2K.

Most of that makes sense, but fuck no on the crafting/gathering suggestion. If you’re making an alt just to make shit, you’re not participating in the game on that alt really. You’re a cooldown bitch that sits in town and it just gives more power to bots on the gathering front since they have less competition from players

That system from WoW sucks and most modern MMOs smartly ditched it in favor of omnicraft systems

Crafting’s real problem in this game is it is too grindy and there is nothing of value until the high end of that craft usually, so you spend lots of time and money with no return. Plus once you get to the high end, you’re battling RNG to get something worth a fuck from your craft.

The changes to expertise and downscaling have also impacted the viability of crafting. They also massively inflated xp leveling requirements, turning away people. And combined with a declining population, you need systems to bring more crafters into the game world.

The changes the game really needs are ways to increase crafting leveling with less grind. Short of a rebalance of everything, the worth is mostly going to be at the cap of the crafting skill and everything else is just a barrier to getting there

Well thats my opinion on it. People like to craft and they would make alts just to do it and feed themselves. I mean most of the shit you craft leveling up is worthless anyways and will be since the game has no noobs constantly rerolling. Its a fucking problem. Also the game drops so much shit so often, crafting would be useless anyway unless they made the crafted weapons like THAT much better than the drops. You can find a named in any zone that drops purps all day long.

SO what im trying to say is they have a LOT of work to do on this MMO to make people come back. It CAN happen but its rare to have a poulation come back. Only thing they have going for them is everyone that did play already paid for it and there is no sub fee. So this is kinda unprecedented and a chance they have to get people to come back.

Thinking on it maybe they could try some seasonal type shit with this game. Make leveling super fast make changes that support seasons and maybe some grand PvP thing at the end with a seasonal "mechanic, bosses, dungeons" like POE has?
