Unless they say there is no cap for a year. Then there is a cap. There is no such thing as a salary cap in football, and if you believe there is, you're naive.
I'm just sayin'. The Steelers haven't even made the playoffs yet, and have better odds.Well, with their recent playoff history (all playoff history?), and performance during nationally televised games...they should be happy that their odds are that good?
And if they do say there's no cap for a year and you go over it, they still punish the shit out of youUnless they say there is no cap for a year. Then there is a cap.
Goddell's ego, hell of a thing. And if they do say there's no cap for a year and you go over it, they still punish the shit out of you

Teams that go over their cap numbers are subject to hefty fines, cancelled contracts and/or lost draft picks. In 2012, Dallas and Washington were fined $10 million and $36 million, respectively, for exorbitant spending during the uncapped 2010 season.
Yeah from what I recall wasn't it the Bears who also spent plenty of funny money that year? But they don't play in the NFC East with Mara's Giants, so no problem. And they had the nerve to state there wasn't any collusion to keep an artificial cap in place at the same time. Mara can suck a bag of dicks. No conflict of interest there!
The only other team I actually remember was the Saints, who basically had nothing happen to them.Yeah from what I recall wasn't it the Bears who also spent plenty of funny money that year? But they don't play in the NFC East with Mara's Giants, so no problem.
You might be right, I forgot they withheld the "bonus" cap space they allocated out to all the other teams. That was the price of the NFLPA signing off on the penalties in the first place, that they would spread out that money lost by Dallas and Washington to the rest of the league so that the players didn't make less than they would normally. The only other team I actually remember was the Saints, who basically had nothing happen to them.
Edit: Possibly Raiders? The Saints and Raiders didn't receive the $1.6M in additional cap space that year.
Yup. Just bumped Oregon way up in my confidence pick in the Bowl mania gameGood for the Ducks and anyone that bet on them prior to this.
Are you really questioning the owner who was more than happy to let his team tank to get Luck, fire the coach, and show their all time great QB the door? Why keep Grigson as the Colts GM though? His draft and free agent history is truly tragic.
