That is pretty cool but he does have a wife that makes more than he does. It probably does make some difference. Just to get the hate flowing early.
True, but lets be realistic. nobody is going hungry at $9,000,000 a year unless they have the mental fortitude of a 4 year old. Most people won't make $9,000,000 in their lifetime and they still manage to survive for 50+ years.

Can you be mad at people for getting as much money as they can? Nope, but you don't have to have a supermodel super-rich wife to sacrifice a few bucks if you really want the wins/legacy/etc.

Wait, a 3 year contract that pays Foles as the 21st highest paid qb is a bad contact?
I was just looking at that chart comparing them to the other QB's on the chart. Foles has $6M guaranteed. That's more than Flacco and Palmer by about $2M, and in range of Romo.

You all should know by now that no football player makes their stated contract amount. The only number that REALLY matters is the guaranteed money. That makes Foles #13, and Bradford #7. 13th highest paid QB isn't that bad I suppose, but Bradford hasn't done shit to earn that contract.

I will always ask this when talking about those mid range QB's. Dump Wilson. Who will you pick up? Realistically no one better? Then he is worth the money. Every consistent playoff QB is worth their money. NO QB will bring your shitty team to the SB.

Below are the salaries of the QB's not working off rookie deals. I just cut it off arbitrarily at Brady. As I look at these the only ones IMO not worth the money are:

Kaperbro. Wont make playoffs anytime soon.
Eli Manning. Won't make playoff anytime soon.
Pey Pey. Will make playoff, but we all see that Manning is a shell of himself.
All three of your picks violate the criteria you set forth in the first line of your post.

Do you really not see the connection between a QB making the playoffs and a them having a good team around them? Why is that so hard for people top grasp? Do they really believe QB's just turn to shit as soon as their defense slips?

Dan Marino spent his entire career after his first couple years on total shit teams, and still took them to the playoffs more often than not.

A HOF QB will get you to the playoffs pretty often. But you do need a decent team around them to win a Super Bowl

Look at Indy...that team was obviously a dumpster fire without Manning or Luck...worst record in the league the 1 year without them. Playoff team with them.

A great QB can easily carry a below average team to a 9-10 win season and a playoff berth, but they aren't winning a Super Bowl with that shitty supporting cast.

Tom Brady carried the Patriots through some pretty mediocre teams, just sayin.
Ummm, the only year he didn't play they still went 11-5? Had Moss from 2007-Gronk rookie year? So two of the most dominant players ever and two of the best slot WRs ever played there but Charmin Soft-Balls carried them? They may cheat at everything they do, but Brady wasn't what carried them. Belicheat did.

Oh, and I'm not mad at Brady for being a great team player. I just hate cheaters lol

How in the fuck does every new Pats fan in the thread somehow lower the bar for how bad a fan can be? And how in the fuck are any of you dipshits engaging?

Are you implying you could throw Gronk on any team in the league and they'd win their division? Wait, maybe you're implying is that all it takes is a QB and 1 person they can throw the ball to... there definitely aren't any teams out there who have a superstar receiver or TE to throw the ball to that still struggle to put up wins, definitely not because all you need is a star to catch the balls and anybody could shine at QB, right? Or maybe you're implying that the Patriots have had amazing teams every year since Brady took over at QB (I mean, I guess if you feel that way I shouldn't complain as a Patriots fan but I think you're being a little delusional if this is the case).

Then again I got negged for saying Brady has had some not-so-hot teams so maybe i'm the one who's wrong about that...

Zombie,

Lol, you crack me up. Read your original point and then reread your next one. So...which is it? Did Brady carry those mediocre teams or was it a team effort? What was their record that year he didn't play again? Didn't see you mention that but maybe you could just quote me again, lol.

For what it's worth, they had quite the easy schedule that season that he got hurt. Also are you using Moss-Gronk years as your evidence for why Brady never carried a mediocre team?

Not that those two aren't great/HoF at their position players...but that ignores the 3 Super Bowls he won before either of them ever got there.

During the time frame when they won the 3 SB's and before Moss ever got there (2001-2006), Brady had exactly one receiver who had over 1,000 yards in a season. That was Troy Brown with 1,199 yards in 2001. Not one other Patriots receiver (or even Troy Brown in any other year) topped 1,000 yards in a season in those 6 years. Ground game support? Corey Dillon had a pretty big year in 2004 with 1,635 yards rushing. The next biggest rushing total they had was from Antowain Smith in 2001 with 1,157. No other 1,000+ yard rushers in those 6 years.

In those 6 years, the Patriots went 70-24 in regular season games that Brady started, and 12-2 in playoff games he started.

Christ I hate defending Brady, but it's just not reality to claim he didn't carry the load for some teams that lacked big stars early in his career...winning 3 SB's in the process.

And then they got busted for cheating.
I feel like some of their skill position players wish they had done better at it then. It also doesn't really change the debate about Brady having mediocre teams around him in those years before Moss got there. Aside from Brown having the 10th most receiving yards the year he cracked 1,000, no other Pats receiver cracked the top 20 in any other year during that time through 2006. Yet somehow Brady in those 5 full seasons as starter (Bledsoe got hurt in 2001), never was below 10th in passing yards and led the league in 2005.
