D would have had it much easier at the end there if we only need to defend the end zone. That drop was such a killer. Good effort for sure, but this was a winnable game.

Well, Alex is still playing at a high level. Harbaugh is coaching a college team. York is wondering about tickets sales, who knows what Baalke is doing. Kaep has a girlfriend and protesting shit. Not hard at all.

Assuming that you don't have the benefit of 5 years of hindsight obviously. But regardless, there's no reason to think that Smith would have played better than Kaepernick in 2012. Kaepernick dominated the playoffs and still came up one pass short.

There is every reason to believe he would have done better, he actually plays the game still, at a high level.
