Brosar, you know they consider intent with regards to suspensions. Come on man, at least pretend like you follow hockey a little.

Yes, there is no provision for a check to the head to get a major penalty or a game misconduct, but if the ref determines the player was deliberately targeting the head in an attempt to injure the opponent, a match penalty and/or suspension could occur.

People acting surprised about Fleury in the playoffs is strange btw.
I know they consider intent. Its retarded.

No comment on the Orpik/Toews hit? When that happened everyone considered it legit. Exact same hit as the one Seabrook put on Backes. Happened 7 weeks ago.

You cant be that much of a moron, you have to be trolling.

First, Toews had the puck. Second, Toews just had his head down and wasnt in a dangerous area to be hit. Third, Initial point of contact is the shoulder on Toews. Fourth, Toews didnt get knocked out/concussion.

Clean? What a joke. Backes didnt have the puck, was unsuspecting and defenseless, leaves his feet, and injures a player. Should have been more than 3 games.
LOL, oh really?

1. Orpik's skates leave the ice
2. Orpik nails Toews right in the side of the head, clear as day, even the announcers say it, at least Backes got checked in the front of the body
3. Toews was "unsuspecting" and "defenseless"
4. He was definitely injured, you can see it when he is sitting on the bench right afterwards
5. And Toews didnt have the puck for at least a second before getting nailed by orpik

You dumb, son. It's all right there in the video.

Toews didnt get knocked out/concussion.
Toews suffered an upper-body injury when Orpik hit him into the boards during the second period of their game March 30. Toews left the ice holding his left arm and missed the team's final six regular-season games due to the injury. His teammates were criticized by hockey analysts and fans for not retaliating against Orpik or one of the Penguins' star players.

Tell me more bro about how Toews wasn't injured.

Brosar just so we're clear, I wasn't commenting on whether them judging "intent" for themselves was silly for determining suspensions, only that they do in fact judge intent and take that into account when they are determining suspensions.

Orpik hit is different, it's Orpik though so fuck him.

God I hate Columbus.

Exactly. Intent. The INITIAL point of contact was Toews shoulder, that happened to almost hit his head after. Toews had his head down admiring the puck for some reason. A big no no in hockey. Orpiks hit was clean.

So is your point that both were legal hits or that the nhl should have suspended orpik?
I think both were legal hits, but I'm really annoyed by the double standard and even moreso by those who choose to defend the double standard.

I didnt bitch about the Orpik hit and I'm annoyed by people bitching about the Backes hit, acting like he was shoved headfirst into the boards or something. I mean you even have fags like Sweet Prince Empire now using words like "unsuspecting" and "defenseless" to determine guilt. Fuck, if I checked someone who was "suspecting" it and was already anticipating the hit, that a pretty shittily executed check.

I'm not surprised seabrook got time off, wouldn't have been surprised if orpik had got time. Also not surprised at the nhl inconsistency, it cost $20k more to motion to you balls on the bench than intentionally hitting another player in the balls with your stick.

I'm actually surprised at the length of seabrook suspension, I would guessed 1 to 2 considering each playoff game is treated as 2 regular season games.

Nails him simultaneously in the head and the shoulder. Its right in the video, clear as day. But that doesnt matter anyways because the NHL rules say nothing about the initial point of contact, only the primary point. Do you even hockey?

Backes also lowers his body right before the hit, if he doesnt do that, then Seabrook who is already mid stride into the check, nails him right in the numbers.

Intent? Orpik already gave another guy a concussion back in December. Seabrook? Never has been fined/disciplined for anything or considered a dirty player in his 9 years in NHL.

48.1 Illegal Check to the Head - A hit resulting in contact with an opponent's head where the head is targeted and theprincipal point of contact is not permitted.

Oh it doesnt? Tell me more how much you know about NHL rules.
Do you know what "principal" means?

Here, let me help you.

Principal - Definition and More from the Free Merriam-Webster Dictionary

Full Definition of PRINCIPAL

1
: most important, consequential, or influential : chief <the principal ingredient> <the region's principal city>
2
: of, relating to, or constituting principal or a principal(see 2principal)

Forget about "Do you even hockey?"

Let's start off with "Do you even English?"

Still by that definition, the principal point of contact is the shoulder.
No, my dear Sweet Prince Empire. The principal point of contact in the Orpik hit is not the shoulder. The mostimportant, consequential or influentialhit that Jonathan Toews receives from Brooks Orpik is the one STRAIGHT TO HIS FUCKING HEAD.

Here's the still from the point of impact

Ok, now rewind that a bit and youll see the contact with the shoulder before.

Toews had an "upper body injury" which could be anything, but we know it wasnt a concussion, which will be a determining factor in suspensions.

Sure, he sat for the 6 games, but his team was probably taking precautions to make sure hes fine for playoffs.
