Gotta respect how good that roster is. Vas is just the best goalie in the game, too. Teams going to have to come hard next year.

Tampa was the better team for sure. I still don't like it when teams win back to back.

I do hope their salary overage is addressed.

But congratulations to the winners of Lord Stanley's Cup. Vasilevskiy was the right choice for the Conn Smythe. He is an exceptional net minder.

Cooper's already made comments that the team won't be the same next year. They should still have a godly top 2-3 lines but the depth won't be as strong.

Well of course they won't be the same without another convenient long term injury or two.

Yeah, I know, old argument. They should just enforce the cap during the playoffs and be done with it.

lets not forget the Lightning were one of two teams that voted to fix the loophole in 2015, Blackhawks did the same thing with Kane

Yep, and I'm not going to blame them for taking advantage of it. Maybe the league will finally do something this time.

I'll say that with the Kane injury, at least it happened mid season right before the deadline, and wasn't some pre-planned before a regular season even started move. Obviously shortened season circumstances, but plenty of other teams have had guys hurt the last few years and used ltir cap space to get more help at the deadline with the possibility of guy returning in the playoffs.

Yea Im sure Tampa really wanted to have their best player and league MVP miss the whole season so they can use a cap loophole.

Congrats to Tampa, that team is just a juggernaut. Ill be pretty surprised now if Seattle doesnt take Johnson and Tampa throwing a top prospect in the deal.

He was fit to play almost a month before the playoffs started so they absolutely did and i'm sure Kuch was into it as well. If it were a full 7 month season it would of been a different story, but given the circumstances they figured the end justified the means and i'm sure their fans all agree.

But whatever, they didn't break any rules. I think it's kinda poor sportsmanship but who cares what I think. It's funny because they are easily the best team the past few years and didn't need to cast this doubt with fans around the league, but they didn't wanna take any chances and now most people will meme their accomplishment.

You literally cannot prove he was fit to play just because he was practicing. This is like saying the Rangers purposely put Panarin on LTIR so they could stay cap compliant until the playoffs. Again, why would you have a top 5 player in the world get surgery on his hip and sit out a whole season. Its a dumb narrative and people need to quit crying over it.

I'm sure they didn't want to lose him at all, but once it was clear they were going to lose him, that method makes the most sense. That team clearly still talented enough to make the playoffs without him.
