So I played through the demo again and ended up really liking it this time around. Was thinking of picking this up as a reward for finishing Zelda. (Which I hope to do today) It is either going to be this or Nioh and I'm looking for advice.

I have never really been a fan of replaying games for some reason. Is there enough differentiation in the play throughs so I can see all the endings? I love character development, story, and gameplay in that order.

Those big AAA titles will be available to play all-year+, toss the underdog some love so we can get some more wacky, risky shit from 'em!
And as someone that fucking hates playing through games again: I liked Nier quite a bit and there is definitely enough there to keep you going. Especially if character development and story are your #1 & #2.

For what it's worth I felt Nioh was amazing at first but it dragged around 2/3s through and I found myself forcing myself to finish it. Nier on the other hand I didn't want to end even after unlocking all the main endings.

To get the full story you sort of do 3 play throughs. The first 2 are the same story from the perspective of 2 different characters, but the 3rd actually picks up where the first 2 leave off. You want to get endings A-E. Play through 1 gets A, 2 gets B, 3 gets either C or D. After you get either C or D, chapter select unlocks and you can use that to make a different choice and see the ending you missed. E unlocks after you have both C and D so once the credits roll having made the second choice, it will give you E after the credits.

Ok just wrapped up Zelda. Will have to check this out I think. How many hours did it take you all to get all the endings?

Took me 39 hours, though I did like 80% of the side quests. I only have something like 50% of the weapons and not-even-close on the intel and remaining 21 endings.

This can easily be a 60+ hour ordeal if you're one of those 'must 100% everything'.

If you just want to blow through the main story quests you can probably wrap this up within 25 hours, but tbh I wouldn't recommend that.. the side quests are pretty great imo

Was going to take a pass on this one, did not look like the sort of game I would enjoy, but after watching this review I am have changed my mind. Look forward to trying it later tonight once it is done downloading.

Hey, I'm really really enjoying the game, but that guy is a little extreme. He isn't wrong necessarily about his points but he's up at an 11 or 12 and should probably dial back a bit.

Yeah, 100%. Great game, great characters, great story (that I'm still digesting) - but that review is so filled with metaphoric knob slobbing it should have been hosted on pornhub.

In other news, the game shipped/sold (digital) 1M copies. Pretty crazy. There is supposed to be some oddball live stream on the 17th about it.

Game is definitely good. It is pretty much controller required. I play mouse and keyboard for everything even remotely possible, but for this I had to plug in my PS4 controller. That said, really enjoying it. Love the story, love the premise and I really love the difficulty.. nice to have an rpg that is actually challenging. It definitely deserves some credit for breaking new ground in the genre.

Damn, he laid it on pretty thick. This is an excellent game that I think anyone who is even remotely interested should try, but he went a bit over the top. That being said, this is one of the few games that I am interested in completing every quest, achievement and whatnot. I've got all the endings except Y, which apparently requires maxing out every weapon before you can do it, so that's my plan for tomorrow.

I'm happy to see this selling well and hopefully they have some interesting announcement for the 17th.

Ok. I am on my first play through. Does Emil come out for 1st playthroughs?

Eventually, but if you haven't seen him yet I would just farm the stacked bots. It's kind of annoying to get Emil to spawn in a particular spot for the shop inventory you're after.

i've heard the PC port of this game is not good, anyone play it? I'd play on ps4 pro (later, persona 5 and a few others now) but just curious

PC port works fine except a controller is necessary. The keyboard layout is awkward as hell.
