This has been a scalpers nightmare. Literally zero demand

Because Nintendo fans are retarded and it’s going to sell regardless of release titles.

also for the past 4 console generations no stock and shitty scalpers

but switch2 is so shit scalpers said nah

No, I take it as Nintendo having a very solid hold on their /actual/ numbers and - better than anyone else - had established predictions that fell mostly within reality.

Months ago during all the leaks, even when the Switch 2 got its "first real picture" by way of a screen protector / case company... lol and Nintendo was like "Yup! that is the actual console! first official picture by some 3rd party company haha!"- since then they have been expressing how they were going to make sure no one was left wanting on launch day, and that the switch 2 would be readily available from then on, or very shortly. They have been working on stock for at least a year if not longer.

I think they have done that to the best of anyone the past many generations of consoles - Sony said the same thing about PS5 and we see how that worked out.

Lack of residual scalpers is a positive for Nintendo and their ability to launch and properly meet demand, not a negative on the sales or demand.

There were and are scalpers - my wife on Facebook had a few people reposing scalpers that were selling the day before release for $1400 with pictures of thier hatch back full of switch 2 boxes. People selling pre-order spots the few days before for $50-150 etc. etc. there was demand, there still is - but it is not as on fire because...

I think Nintendo met every pre order and every launch night stand in line person number. There have been very few complaints online etc. about "I STOOD FOR HOURS AND GOT NOTHING" - there have been more "I stood in line all night and the grandma who showed up 5 min before got one!" - people have wondered in launch day on normal hour open and gotten some off the shelf.

Are most shelves bare now? yeah, but have 90+% of /those who really wanted one right away/ gotten them? I would say yes - and THAT is why scalping demand is low.

I just never could get into windwaker. When it was new and on many subsequent re-releases… just…i dunno..its not the visuals.
For me, coming back to it the stringent jumping rules were the most agrivating. You have to aproach at the ledge at a 90 degree with very lityle wiggle room or you fall

I think I saw this on Reddit, but someone commented they walked into Walmart and asked for a switch2. They had a pallet out back and got one for them. Then the next person was a scalper that demanded to buy the entire pallet.

I hope people like that have to eat their own feces to survive.

Are those the "ultimate" levels? Every 3D Mario has some ultimate challenge once you get all the stars (well, all of the games after a certain point).

If so, then it sounds like 500 moons might be the "finish line" for a completionist playthrough. From what I've read, getting all the moons is this ridiculous task that isn't worth it.
Yeah, I think it's just harder versions of the boss fights from the campaign. I unlocked Dark Side, but didn't grind for Darker...I was ready for a different game at that point. Odyssey was actually the first 3D Mario I finished...before the Switch, the last Nintendo Console I owned was a SNES.

But, yeah, if you're feeling the itch for more Odyssey, then finishing Dark Side and Darker Side is probably a good goal.

I don’t understand why you quoted me. I was specifically responding to why their launch lineup is so small. Because people are going to buy it anyways, they don’t need to make big launch releases. I didn’t say anything about their sales volumes, it’s gonna sell well.

I think I've been to Best Buy twice in the last decade:

Once ~5 years back when my headset broke and needed one immediately for meetings later that day.

Once recently when my nephew's PC shorted out and I needed another power supply to swap in for testing (again, immediately).

I too cannot understand how they stay in business. CDs and movies are dead, and videogames are soon to follow. I get that the locations are all either long paid for or have long term leases, but there is nothing left for sale people care about - they're just wastelands with appliances taking up a huge percentage of the floor plan and the widest aisles I can think of in retail (since, again, they have nothing anyone wants to buy), other than the cell phone area that can fit in a mall kiosk. (Fortunately, these were very suburban locations and still had competent employees.)

But to this thread, they didn't even have any noteworthy Switch 2 presence. If they can't entice people in to test new hardware, what could possibly turn things around for them?
I used to drive over an hour to go Best Buy back in the late 90s.

That store was like a dreamland. Miles of brand new DVDs, tvs that were so massive in size and price ( 48 inch and $4k ), that i would never be able to afford them. Actual home sound systems that weren't home theaters in a box. 4 isles of Cds, mini disc's, csmecorders....PC monitors that were actually 19 inch and the occasional massive 21 inches...Voodoo 2 GFx cards that were cutting edge...

Now I can not think of a single reason to go in that store, and the one by me never has more than 3 customers at a time and 3/4 of the store is empty.

I could spend hours in that store and just dream.

Honestly not sure why anybody would go through any particular hoops to buy a Switch 2. For me lining up was a chance to do a social event for a system launch for the first time since the Wii, and had very little to do with the actual system.

The system itself has like...nothing to it currently. Single-player Mario Kart is pretty much completely finishable in less time than the average workday, and everything else on the system are things we've had on PS5 for years. The Zeldas and Mario Odyssey having upgraded framerates is a neat plus (and something to do after finishing the one game, especially if someone hasn't played them already) and that's about it.

Once it gets Metroid Prime 4 and some more games it'll be worth having, but currently there is absolutely no reason to go out of your way for this system. You're basically paying $500 to play Mario Kart, which is a bit much even for Nintendo fanboys.

Kids these days will never experience true gaming.

(getting a migraine after playing 10 minutes of Mario Tennis)

Is there such a thing as Virtual Boy emulators? I don't think I ever even thought about this before in the 27 years I've been emulating things. I'd kinda like to play the Wario Land game for VB (and that's it lol) since it's the only Wario Land game I had no way to play as a kid. Emulation on a normal screen would probably make the system actually crisp/playable too. Kinda like how Switch emulation makes the system actually have nice graphics, and Wii emulation lets you get rid of some of the stupid waggle-motion.

Goddamn, Nintendo.

These are hard economic times. Can’t hate a player for having a little side hustle. Let the free market sort itself out

Yeah there’s a bunch. Coolest ones are the one on 3ds and one on oculus.

WarioLand VB was great, it was actually a very good standard style platformer.

That, RedAlert and Tennis were my fav, i owned the system when it got its first or 8th price reduction lol
