Is there such a thing as Virtual Boy emulators? I don't think I ever even thought about this before in the 27 years I've been emulating things. I'd kinda like to play the Wario Land game for VB (and that's it lol) since it's the only Wario Land game I had no way to play as a kid. Emulation on a normal screen would probably make the system actually crisp/playable too. Kinda like how Switch emulation makes the system actually have nice graphics, and Wii emulation lets you get rid of some of the stupid waggle-motion.

Goddamn, Nintendo.
just stare at the sun for 2mins and play any game

Received my invite from Nintendo to buy this thing by Friday the 13th.

Nah.

No games worth a shit aside from Metroid Prime 4 which has no official release date. No new Zelda. 3rd party sucks on this thing and if I wanted portable I would just get a Steam Deck. Any decent 1st party title worth paying 500 for a 4 year old system, there would need to be about 20 titles and by then there will be an OLED version or can just skip this thing entirely.

This fucking piece of hardware all put together at 20% profit on the hardware isn't more than $349.

Fuck em.

Plus no one should do anything on Friday the 13th except watch the old movies.

And them jacking prices to $79 in some aspects, really fuck them.

Remindsme of the old days when no one wanted to work with Nintendo because of their official seal of quality crap in the 80's when they gauged publishers and developers.

Yeah I have to admit I'm having a bit of buyer's remorse. Like I know I'd get one eventually for Duskbloods and the next Xenoblade/Zelda game but right now there just isn't enough. Mario Kart World is fine but I'm not a huge fan of the series, and due to the display being mid some games I'd rather just play on the OLED model. Hoping for some more patches to trickle down for now. My OLED Steam Deck just feels like a much better machine.

No buyer's remorse here. Was going to get it within a few months regardless for Prime 4, and now I don't need to worry about hunting one down. The price won't change at all in the meantime (hell, according to the MSM it'll go UP because tariffs are comin' to get us lol) so it isn't a situation where I spent a lot on something I could have gotten for cheap in a few months.

That said, there's still no real reason to get one and Nintendo is great at talking fanboys out of their money.

My thoughts exactly. I think it's a little harder to justify buying this for people who already own a Switch OLED though.. I only had the original 2017 Switch so for me Switch 2 is a really big upgrade, it's both larger and lighter, and the games load much faster, plus I was going to play MKW on release anyway because both my wife and kid love it. I have DK Bananza already pre-ordered because it looks great and it should be fun to play a 3D open-world DK game, the last one was ages ago back on N64 and it was pretty great back then too.

As I got a PS5 recently, I feel like the PS5 and Switch have different uses for me. I'll play AAA games on the PS5 but for games with simpler graphics or that don't require a super high framerate, I'm fine playing them on Switch 2 because I like being able to play handheld even at home. Plus there's the actual Nintendo properties that I'll play like Metroid, DK, the inevitable Mario games, and maybe a Zelda game or two (the smaller ones like Echoes of Wisdom or the remakes they made, not the huge ones like BotW/TotK that take 6 years to develop).

As for the outrage about the price of the games, I've seen them around 50/60 in most places, so again that's probably not going to be as big of an issue as anticipated. The only thing I don't like so far is the emphasis on digital games, I was disappointed to receive a code for MKW in my Switch 2 MKW bundle, I'd have prefered a physical box with the cartridge. And I've seen bullshit like the Split Fiction physical box having the slot for the cartridge filled with plastic and instead you get a code to download it, that's really lame.

MKW takes about a third of the Switch 2's storage, so I hope they'll hurry up releasing more 1TB SD Express cards and that the prices will go down relatively quickly, I don't like having to delete and redownload games later.
