I think Switch 2 is suffering from what has somewhat happened with ps5 and will happen with ps6. The desire to keep architecture the same to keep libraries compatible results in evolution rather than revolution. Combined when game dev cycles getting longer and longer, adopters can hold out.

Does anyone really care about backwards compatibility? For me, once I move to the next gen I don't go back and play older system games. Other than for nostalgia's sake.

Backwards compatibility matters because most of the new games are shit. The 2 or 3 good originals is not enough.

Yes, but when /part/ of the aspect of your system is in handheld portable - the updated size quality and whatnot is part of that- so in handheld mode having the new hardware and all the old games is a part of it

Games with spoilers or ones that will be replayed/continued over years are the only FOMO. Switch 2 doesn't have those yet so there is no advantage to being an early adopter (like so many other industries). Hell join some giveaways and try to win one for free if you can since we have time.

I care tremendously due to limited time. And I replay games I like, so it cuts down shelf space and cords.

Pokémon Pokopia is an extremely good and addicting game. If you like Animal Crossing or Pokemon, it's a must buy.

So many games run like absolute shit or have ungodly long load times on the old system that BC matters more for Switch 2 than it ever has anywhere else.

That said, Nintendo fucked it up enough that even someone like me with a couple dozen backlogged Switch games still won't buy a Switch 2.
