I mean, it's the same thing as a gas guzzling car.

A computer that draws more electricity also produces more waste heat, which then has to be cooled by something, so it doubly contributes to your electric bill and energy footprint.
I put my pc to sleep when I don’t use it. How many hours a day are you gaming??

That's my kid's problem

Such an accurate response - Its how i feel about people saying OLED burn in is issue on PC - but like - im not going to just LEAVE my oled sitting there - not to mention most if not all turn off after 5 minutes of inactivity - Furthermore didnt recent test say it took over a year for burn in on newest panels?

It's surprising how many people actually got 3090s today as opposed to 3080s last week. Almost... Like it was planned

Or there weren't as many bots buying 1700 dollar cards because they knew the markup would be 15% at best.

The 3080s sold out because they are modestly underpriced vs expectations from previous generations.

spronk gimme the nvidia new checkout link

3080
Code:
https://store.nvidia.com/store?Action=AddItemToRequisition&SiteID=nvidia&Locale=en_US&productID=5438481700&quantity=1

3090
Code:
https://store.nvidia.com/store?Action=AddItemToRequisition&SiteID=nvidia&Locale=en_US&productID=5438481600&quantity=1

however nvidia is changing the product ID on every big restock and only putting up the new number in the shop XML catalog a few minutes before release so its not that useful unless you have a scraper pulling down XML catalog changes every day.

Not just that, they actually changed the way the page works now. Those type of links won't work. I'm sure someone will find some way though

The bots were still in full force but it makes no sense anyways. Why would you not a $700 card and resell for $1500 and just leave nvidia's stock of a better $1500 card. That's a bad business model. I guess sneaker heads are retarded though

Pretty much. Even if you can sell a $1500 card for $2000 on ebay, after the 13% in ebay/paypal fees you're netting $1740 on the transaction. If you have to pay tax on the card, you're paying about $1600. That's ~$150 profit for the transaction, not nearly enough to make it worth the effort.

edit: although I do see cards selling for $2400-2500 on ebay it would seem.

The one thing going for the 3090 is a lot of professionals actually "needed" it for ML, rendering, etc

I asked the roving IT guy at work today if he could use the big dick corporate stick to get me a 3080. He laughed at me. :(

I thought this thread was bad when it was nothing but babyrage about cards being out of stock.

Now I just want to go back to that.
