Yeah just the LED read outs (when you already have a monitor) just made me ask. I haven’t seen that level of dedication for a pc hobbyist before and was genuinely interested if they’re testing for a living.

Sorry to any incels I insulted, that wasn’t my intent. My hobbies are expensive too.
There's actually very little money in being a desktop hardware specialist, unless you are self-employed and for some reason the go-to guy for the 1% in your area.

Do you guys do this shit for a living or do you just have way too much money due to either being an incel or having a gf with the same hobby?
As it’s my first attempt at water cooling i decided to go big or not at all. I never have much time to go on vacations and even when I do I take work with me so it’s easy to have plenty of money to f with a pc build every other year. Real question. Is what the hell is everyone else doing where they see an expensive pc and lose their shit. I’ve seen mfers put nonsense in their chassis like dbz action figures and star wars legos. An lcd is at least somewhat functional!

Also it’s not a hobby, I just get bored and build. Ohio is a boring state I didn’t do this shit in Florida. My coworker makes double his salary selling fuckin collectible dolls. That’s how bored it is here, making 400k selling collectibles and still going to work every day

I do think the LED is fucking useless, but that's based on how I use my PC, it's sitting under a desk in a big black metal box, I don't need a screen to tell me things that I could see on an actual screen. It's not like it really display stuff without booting to windows first either from what I understood. Like a temperature display that's directly integrated to the BIOS kind of thing I could see a use for but this, sounds pretty pointless. Then again it's cheap so who cares really if you want a little screen on your PC you should definitely do it.

I do hope these fucks at some point find a way to have the GPU temperatures in the BIOS so you can regulate the pump speed based on that rather than the CPU temperatures(which isn't that bad but sometimes they don't line up quite the same). That or they need to put the GPU temperatures in whatever program they have for the motherboards to line it up. When I looked it up a few months ago when I did my setup, you basically only had one outdated program that did it, and no way otherwise to adjust your case fan speeds(which is basically the pump speed for watercooling) based on the GPU temps.

I build around once per 2-3 yrs, but mostly recently its been upgrades. (mobo, ram, proc...added a 1070 before this) Maybe the next one will be a full on build since my PS and other components that I reused are getting old now. I mostly do this when the games I try to play start to go sluggish, stutter, etc... Like it happened in BF5 when I was getting 1s stutters .

I also enjoy building I have been doing so since the days of PIII? I think? i also build my kids PCs latest one was my kids upgrade from older i5 to a 3800x. Now his shit is rocking.

Ive been building a PC two or three times a year for Family members, neighbors, etc. Its not something I do for extra money, but just the fun of it. Been messing with PC's since I basically broke down my Mom's old Gateway P5-60 years and years ago.

Its a mini IPS display that will be used to show diagnostics for temps, cpu/gpu speed, hopefully i can get flow rate integrated along with system wattage use. Its USB powered and plugs into the nzxt usb add in behind the case. Jay did a video on it recently.

Thanks for this, I've been looking to do that with my Pi and Waveshare screen.

This, I build for friends and fam and just to try new things. Generally I build once then upgrade a part here or there for a couple years or so. I sell off the old or pass it down to someone. First pc I built was way back before velious came out in EQ 😂

Fuck no, I'm not likely to ever play another MMO again. I'm not good at half assing shit like that, and it's too much time investment. Plus, the design on all of them is really not great. Deathtoll v2 showed me they lost all hope.

There are some scalped 5600x and 5800x on newegg from a 3rd party seller (with a questionable rating) at $200 above MSRP
