Word is september launch for 3080 and 3070 cards, then a follow up 3080 ti a few months later.

For comparisons sake the 2080 launched at $700, the 2070 at $500 (months later), the 2080 ti was I think $1100 or so. The 2080ti was ~35% "better" than the 2080, not sure the diff between a 2070 and 2080.

Cyberpunk 2077 releases Sept 17th 2020 and thats probably the single game this cycle that will get a lot of PC gamers to upgrade or buy a new system.

I'm honestly on the fence, I'd rather wait for the 3080ti than buy a 3080, or could even get a second hand 2080ti for a really great price from people who are upgrading. Also I'd bet the PS5 or Xbox SEX plays 2077 REALLY well given optimizations and stuff, maybe really close to 3070 levels of performance.

Still rocking a 980ti. was tempted to upgrade with a 2080, but then i decided to maybe hold out another gen and do the whole card + monitor at the same time thing.

1080ti here. I'm in the same boat. I want the 4k 120Hz monitor, but want more than 60FPS at this point.

Yeah, been hoping that this last gen or this upcoming one would be the 4k gaming on 1 card is normal generation.

Got a 1660ti when they came out and so far it's been very good. I can probably skip that whole generation.

i7-8700K running at 4.3 and 32 GB RAM, my 1080ti is probably the weak point in my system now. Will have to see specs/availability/price this fall but I would like to upgrade.

I'll wait and see how powerful this series is. I have a 2070 Super and I can run everything on ultra high with zero issues. Assume I'll be able up run Cyberpunk really well too.

I'm shamelessly at 1080p 60Hz geforce 1060. It's boner killing to run newer games at medium settings with super low shadows, so I guess I'll be keeping an eye out for people selling their last gen cards when the 30x0 cards release.

Just built a new PC. Skipping this gen for sure. The 2070S is able to handle anything I throw at it at 1440p

Unless the prices are considerably better than the 2xxx

Interesting form factor, different from previous generations. I have a 1080ti FTW Hybrid and want an upgrade, just not sure if the 3080ti will be out when they say. It always feels like it takes forever for that batch to come out.

Been gaming at 4K just fine thus far with minor issues.

What card(s) are you using. What is your FPS?

These are likely just the Founder's Edition style cards, the 3rd party companies will likely have their own cooling solutions.

I've already decided I'm buying whatever flagship card of this generation to replace my 1080 GTX.

I went ham this last fall and got the 2080 Ti, a 9900k, and 32GB RAM (though honestly I've been running 32GB for almost a decade at this point. It's cheap; why skimp?)

Probably skip this 30 series stuff unless it's a massive improvement.

Follow Moore's Law Is Dead (Moore's Law is Dead YouTube Channel) . Same guy runs the Broken Silicon podcast. Dude is plugged in and does excellent analysis. Here is his Video for 3080/Ampere Nvidia 3080 Ti & Ampere FULL Leak: 7nm EUV & 18Gbps needed to Defeat AMD RDNA 2 but don't go all in for NVidia just yet. AMD is back in a big way and NVidia is bringing out the big guns to fight them off. Expect good things this fall from both, and Ampere is reportedly going to be a huge upgrade over Turing to fight off new AMD cards, which are supposedly going to smoke 20xx cards.

I've heard that "new AMD cards were supposedly going to smoke Nvidia" for over 6 years now and they haven't been even remotely close aside from Vulcan which no one uses.

I was always happy with my 1070 ti so I skipped the 20 series. Builiding a new PC currently (going AMD [Ryzen 3900X] for the first time on the chip) and will be adding in a 3080 or whatever newer / best AMD card is available at roughly the same time. I have a 144Hz ASUS ROG monitor. Its really good but fuck me I wish I bought the 34 incxh one. And, yeah, I'm pretty much upgrading only to play Cyberpunk and MS Flight Simulator.

Well, I am not asking you to take my word for it, nor am I saying that "AMD RULEZ". Per the leaks AMD is going to be competitive for the time in a decade, and that is finally forcing NVidia to step up their game. AMD's new cards are going to smoke the last gen, means that NVidia is going to actually have to correct the mistake that was Turning after the fantastic card that was Pascal i.e. the 1080Ti. RDNA 2.0 is going to keep NVidia honest for the first time since the 7970/4850.

Did you believe it when AMD CPUs were going to beat Intel? I didn't, either, and now they are about to absolutely dethrone them across the board in the Consumer desktop space for the first time since the Pentium (was AMD actually faster in 2002-3? I don't remember) with Zen3.
