Every single video game system is seeing a fidelity/performance upgrade. I think that has a lot to do with it. My 970, is so far behind more modern cards, with that said it will play 99% of anything more than well enough since its competing with ps4's and xbox in most cases, its more powerful than the gaming systems in my rig at least. That finally won't be true this fall. So its my theory that unlike most pc vid card generations, almost everyone would upgrade if the price/availability is right. 900, 1000, 2000 series owners are all in the running for an upgrade. I think most PC gamers have probably skipped 1 or 2 generations in the last 7 years?

Sync with Ps5/Xbox Generation launches, Performance increase to entice the 2000's owners to upgrade. Combine with Pandemic: Real life, and demand is understandably all out of order. I'm sure Nvidia are still idiots.

All those things are true, but they've put out virtually 0 cards so

They always spin new consoles as being on par with new gpus. But the consoles always run like shit in comparison

I agree, but its more about the fact that the lowest common denominator to mainstream games is upgraded (the consoles) so the tier 1 gaming experience can be pushed by actual hardware like in Cyberpunk or Flightsim.

Well when no can get a 3080 ot 3090, those millions if ps5 consoles, do in fact, run just as well.
Which are also in very short supply.

I'm upset about the 3080 20gig getting cancelled (or delayed). I was really hoping to get that card for the holidays. I'm wanting to upgrade, so I don't see myself waiting until middle to late next year when the super or TI versions of these cards come out. I guess I'll just have to settle for the 3080 10gig. Still more card than any current game can demand (maybe Flight Simulator).

Seems the 3080 resale prices are ticking upwards. I had no trouble selling the first TUF I got at $1400. Going to aim higher on the next two. The impending launch of Cyberpunk 2077 should be working in my favor.

I really never saw it happening -

3080 10gb $699
3080 20gb $899?
3080 ti xxGB $1200?
3090 24GB 1499 - problem is with 3090 being just a bit better than a 3080 -all the other cards would have to be made to be under a 3090 as far as performance not to completely screw over 3090 purchasers - what would a Ti even be performance wise?

Nvidia don't care. Remember the 1080ti was the same as the titan so they had to release a new refreshed titan.

Never really saw the point of a 20gb 3080. A 16gb 3080 Ti or Super would make a lot more sense.

The problem is none of those make any sense as long as the 3090 exists. There's no room between a 3080 -> 3090 to justify making a model in between.

And you can be damn sure the 3080ti won't be more powerful than a 3090 unless the price is going to be $1800+

I don't see how they can make a "Super" if all these cards are already operating near their power and thermal limits.

The 2080 Super was basically just a 2080 that was near-max overclocked for you.

The 2070 Super actually had architectural differences I think, I forget now.

There is another design spec that made it have to be 10/20 instead of 8/16. I believe because it’s a 320bit bus where a 16 would be a 256bit.

2070 super is functionally a 2080
