Be neat to possibly mine with my 3080 on the side while I'm still working 65 hour weeks.

If you undervolt, underclock core, and overclock memory you will hit better MH/s and higher efficiency with less heat without replacing thermal pads. I just started using the nicehash quickminer instead of their standard one, and it does have an OCTuning tool that I'm about to start messing around with. For my custom tuning I created an afterburner mining profile. 65% Power limit, -200 Core Clock, +1150 memory clock, and 95% fan speed. Room temps and case cooling will obviously impact the tuning. I was able to keep a stable 92-94c memory junction with that setup.

How has this turned out? I just opened OCTune for the first time and adjust VRAM goal temp to be 88C instead of 92C. Other than that idk what to do w power limits, etc.

I tweaked a few things and ended up with an efficiency about 440 kH/J . VRAM is at 94. My Overclocking in the classic section is at 0 Core Clock Delta, 750 Memory Clock Delta, 375 Power Limit. My fans generally stay around 2000 RPM with those settings. I think most guides have the core much lower, but it did nothing to my memory junction temps at 0.

Oof I'm at 268 kH/J.

Yeah man you should definitely run your card balls to the walls 24/7. They’re not frustrating to secure, easy to get, and cheap after all. Great idea.

Got my Meshilicious in, really nice case. I was going to use an NZXT AIO until I saw that it required 5 different connectors in order for it to work. Guess I'm doing a custom loop instead.

Newegg has had various 30xx cards in stock for a week straight now and stock drop discords have been pinging a lot more frequently as of late, although it would seem most of those were scalpers trying to unload on Amazon at somewhat close to MSRP. Guess with 40xx around the corner people are starting to prepare for round 2?

Feel kinda guilty picking up a 3080 TI for 1,600 recently but I don’t think I ever want to fight for a GPU ever again and I suspect 40xx is going to be just as bad, at least for one year after release.

No idea what’s going on with this hackerman stuff but it’s amusing and I hope they deliver.

Think maybe the end of covid has something to do with it? People more likely to spend their time elsewhere than playing games. Looks like bitcoin dropped a bunch of percent since November, that probably reduced demand for GPUs by miners.

crypto was crashing for a while and ethereum is moving to proof of stake over mining sometime "this year" and after that happens mining demand will fall into a hole, as eth makes up ~30-50% of crypto mining.

40xx demand will still be insanely strong due to just gamers wanting to upgrade, especially all the people who held off on 30xx cards and will go for 40xx cards instead. We're still a good six months away from anyone buying a 40xx anyways.

Is 1800 fucking dollars just The Price for the 3080ti or is microcenter and newegg etc just being gouging fucks?

Was in microcenter this morning and they had a pile of like 25+ 3080ti models of varying make and they all started at 1800$ and went up from there lmao.

They're $800 higher than they otherwise would be. You can thank inflation/demand/scalpers/COVID supply chains.

I know prices are all over the fucking place butt the 3080ti just never made sense to me, even at msrp for a 8-10% bump from the stock 3080 is just not worth the $300-$400. But I could still see someone dropping that. But to pay something like $600-$800 more definitely does not.

They are at around $1200 MSRP give or take of course. SO yeah they are gouging like fucks.

3080ti FE is $1200, 3d party cards started at $1500 and only went up so yeah $1800 is right. The evga 3080ti ftw3 for example starts at $1500

and yeah its nowhere near as good as a stock 3080 FE which is $700 but also nearly impossible to get and severely underproduced, nvidia mostly makes the 3080ti's and 3090s (plus all the 3060s, 70s, etc) since the profit is way, way better on em.

instead of a 3080ti just get a 3090 if you really are getting a card imo, 24 gigs of VRAM vs 12 gigs on the 3080 ti and the two are nearly identical performance wise, i think the 3090 has the slight edge?
