If that's the case then they really shouldn't be making shit up as they go along as if they do have all of the details for a game that is three years out. It makes them look desperate (which they are).

Really the whole pitch is shit and that's why we're here. If they had nothing, which is increasingly appearing to be the truth of it, then they should have presented themselves as such. They should have made it clear that this round of funding was merely to get things started. Since Kickstarter requires a product, maybe say the funding is for a design document and working prototype. That way they could come back to Kickstarter in six months or a year with something concrete and do the real pitch for the actual game.

They got way ahead of themselves and aren't being honest with their potential customers.
They should have had more concrete stuff at KS launch. But you can't expect too much to be done with a project of this scale. It's not like your making a KS for say a new shirt and can make some prototype shirts for cheap. I get the feeling many people here seem to think they should have some work to show off that likely would have cost 100k+ to produce.

Every large game KS like this is going to need more funding then the minimum asked for. They are all going to be looking for more funding and a published. We talked about this before the KS even started in this thread, people seemed to understand it then. The KS is essentially to show off interest in the game and allows them to say "look we got all these pre-orders!" They have been honest in needing more then 800k funding since the start also.

And his day job has him working 20 hours a day. I mean, most of us have day jobs and manage to find the time to critique the artist with a day job who doesn't manage to find the time to do a sketch of a Pantheon ogre. If you aren't making time, you aren't invested.
I sometimes wonder if these guys are on the "team" in name only. Maybe they were contacted and initially told "you don't have to do anything until I get the initial funding. Then I can afford to hire you blah blah blah". I dunno. But Vu sounded annoyed in that Twitch video. As if he was promised he wouldn't have to do anything until he was paid and yet here he is, not getting paid, building a dungeon...

Also, this AMA is a jumble of crazy mess and i don't get why reddit is so popular, so obviously I am doing it wrong.
Also. I don't think Brad is going to answer my question.

Most don't need 10 times what they are asking for in the Kickstarter.

They needed to be honest in the pitch video about what the 800k was for and what their plans for the future were.

This Kickstarter is for the game yet they admit the funding will not come close to funding it in any capacity. And yet still their pitch video makes it sound like this Kickstarter is for the game and not to just get things started.

I'm a sys engineer of 15+ years and forum whore too over the years and still have never gotten the Reddit system's popularity. I've heard it's much easier/better to navigate with certain plug-ins , but still don't grasp why it's so popular.

So what you are saying is a they shouldnt actually produce anything with their own resources? Bullshit. You are excusing a piece of shit kickstarter with almost no information except a picture of Brad and a ton of generic MMO terms. This is an 'elite' group of game insiders, asking for $800,000 and to show their dedication they created a Kickstarter that probably took 45 minutes with zero original art, zero original tech, and not even a simple design document.

To their credit they have added a bunch of information, but the Kickstarter remains completely mediocre and there still appears to be very little invested into this project from the team asking for funding.

Anyone sending a wealthy game executive money to fund a game that they will recoup the rewards for without even doing base due diligence is a fool with his or her money. Especially if said wealthy insider has been prepping this game for months and appears to have zero actual work done before hand. Bonus points if you can tell me how said rich guy did the last time someone gave him a pile of money, that you think all of us should overlook, chief?

This Kickstarter should fail, but I give Brad kudos for selling like the guy is capable of selling. Unfortunately for him, the vast majority of us remember his last sales job very well.

Hi Brad would love to hear more about the dynamic weather system you plan to incorporate and the possible effects on characters as they adventure.

We'd like to see things like Call Lightning. We'd like to see some abilities or spells work differently depending on weather; some worse, some better.
Kinda funny, Shards of Dayla or whatever it is does that right now. Things work differently depending on weather and time of day

Surprised no game has done that since.

At some point I would like to do another intro video, but it does take a lot of time and effort from the team (we're not video experts, we're mmo development experts). So I can't say at this point whether there will be another intro video. I can say that you'll see videos showing off new stuff, like Vu's dungeon.

Looks like at anytime 6000+ people were following.. Let's see how much backing that results in..

Does it tell you when it's done or do we just rely on Brad to say bye? Really don't get why people like that place.. Feels like a cluster fuck.

It means likely no dyes at all. What you wear is what people will see. A high level player walking into town deserves to be gawked at. We want players to go, "wow, look at that guy! i want to be that powerful one day". That said, there will be more ornamental or cosmetic items that you can wear, say in a city or village, to express yourself. Their stats will likely suck though, so when you leave the city you'll want to put a different Outfit on.

made me lol in regards to dye

Yeah i dont like it either. Its like the internet form the 90s before forums. One thing that helps is if you click on his name it brings up just his comments, and you can then just refresh. Then if you want to see the question just click on context.

That actually sounds like a reasonable number for end of work day timing. Let's hope it results in tangible funding bump.

And I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who isn't a Reddit fan.
