That doesn't happen in every company that lays people off too... they usually give you 6 months warning. Just terrible !
??? I get laid off with never more then 30 mins warning.

Cunstruction industry workers, like most blue collar workers get treated like shit.

Paid well though

Eh, and plenty of people get laid off with plenty of warning, especially in a large company, especially when they'd want to probably stay and finish the project through, get paychecks as long as they could, get the credit on their resume, get health insurance.

Rehash, but if Brad had called a meeting, explaining the situation, I don't think most people would be surprised, nor would most people instantly bail. Layoffs aren't uncommon in the game industry, and most people probably would have finished out their tour and at least known what to expect and plan for. Instead, Brad chose to disappear and not face a fucking thing for selfish reasons. Oh, but we got word he's been away on 'personal' reasons and to try to find investors.... Sound familiar to anything going on currently?

It strange that people seem so hurt about getting laid off like that. I don't know, in my industry they Lay off a 1000 people in one day and don't bat an eye lash.

Sounds like people who work on video games are straight up pussies and should be forced to work up here in fort mcmurray in -40 c for a few months straight doing 12s with no time off away from home.

Fucking cry babies

It's more that Brad knew, didn't say a thing, and didn't even show up for the big day.

It's not uncommon to be laid off in the game industry, or any industry like that that is largely 'project' based. Usually the man in charge isn't such an asshole as to disappear, hide the truth, and then not even show up. Hell, as far as I've been told, usually they KNOW the layoff is coming, and expect it, and that's just how shit goes. Trying to hide it and then avoid it for selfish reasons is what made the situation unique. See also: 38 Studios.

Have you heard about Group Quest?
Now I know you guys are clamoring for more on Group Quest, but you have to understand that developers of my caliber don't normally release information all at once and upfront like we are, now at first I was going to tell you guys to wait a few days for our BIG PCGamer interview but since you have been super good I'm gonna give you the leet beta infoz on GroupQuest.

Update Number #4

Resist Gear NEED I SAY MORE?!!??!!

In GroupQuest the terrain will be rough, so you will need to Group and Quest to overcome to harsh environments of Grouparia. In some areas of Grouparia it might be to cold to group and in other areas of Grouparia it might be to hot to group so we have this new concept called group dynamic resistance gear, as you travel through Grouparia you and your group will interact with your group backpacks and change group items to group and quest in new areas.

you know nothing about the corporate world, CEOs don't layoff ppl. Immediate managers execute the action. Or if you are remote you get a fedex and a phone call by your manager and HR.

Yeah where I work, HR comes down, and escorts your ass out of the building. They dont even allow you to collect your shit, they usually mail a box to you. Its for security reasons mainly. But yeah, CEO giving you a speech and a pat on the back? good luck.

At a company with 100 employees that was the brainchild of a game dev who was the vision behind a company he started with his own money.... That's not like some random CEO at the top of a giant corporation.

shabushabu, are you really qwerty?

Suddenly Sigil was the equivalent of giant corporation?

Brad himself claims feeling guilty for not being there until the end. He wasn't just some CEO in his ivory tower who got a job. He was the founder of a game studio using his own money and vision to build a dream. For fuck sake we really debating this dumb shit.

He's a loser who, right now, has a track record of failing and abandoning projects he starts for selfish reasons.
