Dude, this thing still hitched years later on an i2500k OC'd to 4.5 ghz and a 770 GTX 4gb.

Laughable.

Did you guys do the right thing though and PM qwerty your DXDIAG???!!!

(Good God that was hilarious when I would see that constantly)

Legend has it if you painted the room your cpu was in brown and put crushed up percs in the fans, you would sustain 60 fps indefinitely

I remember reading their tech support forums a few times as I would laugh my ass off at CS telling folks to update their sound driver because it was out of date on their DXDiag and that was the source of all their pain.

Nah dude you did it wrong. Apparently we all did. Cause squirty had a "good PC" and the "game ran great." Everything near cranked, bro!
No not everything "near" cranked, everything actually cranked. And with a single graphics card too, which at the time was a fraction of the price of what the top graphics cards cost now. Anyone claiming you had a top end pc at the time, tell me the name of your graphics card so I know you are full of it.

People who complain about chunking have a lame agenda... right.
Are you talking about chunking or hitching? Hitching was bad. Chunking was just like zoning in EQ but far less frequent because the zones were far bigger, and it was about 1000 times faster than EQ was. Again, I could zone in Vanguard in 3 seconds max. And that was before the days of SSD's. So yes, you have lame bs agendas because you are losers who need something to whine about.

We complain about a game being advertised as open world, but it actually isn't,
It actually is. It can still be open world and have zoning. Most games do, WoW had zoning, Witcher 3, Skyrim, etc.

as it takes a giant shit on your PC for anywhere from 3 to 10 seconds as you're running from location to location.
Omg you had to wait 3 seconds for something? You poor thing! In EQ you would load into Freeport on a boat and it took a minute or more just to zone in, and then you would run for 20 seconds to North Ro and spend another minute to cross the zone. Vanguard was 3 seconds which was obviously great unless you are a whiny faggot with an agenda.

Dude i remember trying vg when they announced its cancel with a current $3K computer and current card and it still ran like shit
You must be so bad at maintaining a computer... By the end I could run 6 clients on one PC easy, and my PC was far from high end at that point.

You are full fucking retard or delusional beyond belief. I actually thoroughly enjoyed VG, but it was buggy as hell and yes I had a top of the line PC. I was able to have fun despite the faults, but I get why most other didn't.

/flush bitch!

What do bugs and performance have to do with each other? A game could be buggy with perfect peformance, or have terrible performance but no bugs... They are too completely separate issues. You talk about "retards" yet you don't even know the basics of this stuff.

Chalk me up as another person
Wow you want to be part of the hive mind?! What a surprise!

The hitching was always a problem but you could get rid of most of it.

Legend has it if you painted the room your cpu was in brown and put crushed up percs in the fans, you would sustain 60 fps indefinitely
60 fps was easy. I have never had sli or a top end cpu, but I could easy get 60fps.

Never played Vanguard. I was too busy playing good games and not wasting my time, at the time. Anyways, looked up some gameplay videos on Youtube. That shit looks exactly like EQ2. That is not a compliment.

I only logged in a handful of times, after I got in on one of the betas that they had. But it was clear to me that Brad was spewing tremendous amounts of bullshit to the forums.

"I've played these areas."

Really?

HOW? I can barely walk through the starting zone.

qwertard must have some powerful sound drivers. Better hit that shit, yo!

Maybe it was just me with my shit PC, but I think performance on the whole actually got worse during beta. I started in the first wave where there would be only 10 or 20 players online at any time. Shit was a slideshow at first, but in one of the first big patches soon after I joined, optimizations made the game very playable if I turned all settings down. I played and had some fun for a time while I could. Then before one of the later beta invite waves, beta 3 or 4 or something, they made an update that made the game completely unplayable for me, far worse than it was on day 1. That was pretty much the end for me.

Game was amazing but the hitching and terrible framerate killed the fun.

There was a killer forum post that suggested ramdrive for some of the files (shaders) . Before the official
Hitching shader fixes this thing worked like a charm... I also added an ssd and it ran very very well.. it amazed me however that it took them around 2 years to reduce the hitching yet that ramdrive solution solved it very well much before that...

He talks about smooth performance but admits bad hitching. He must have really low standards as hitchiness is a death kiss to me.

There was a toggle in the menu under graphics named "Run Like Shit", all you guys had to do was un-check it!
