That Oct 17 NathanNapalm Youtube video had two interesting items, imo..
1) They have a homegrown network library that is so amazing and so awesome that it has attracted interest from outside studios for licensing. It will apparently solve all their server load problems.
2) They had serious login server problems in September, such that the scheduled pre-sign-up VIPs were unable to login to the test server during their 1-2 hour test windows.

There appears to be a logic flaw in the existence of those two statements, simultaneously. If the homegrown network library is 50 shades of awesome, (23m35s mark in the video) and in fact so awesome that " outside studios have been asking about licensing ", why, in the current Pre-pre-pre-pre alpha 5 implementation of those same network libraries, can people not login to the test server a few dozen at a time? I'm sure those that paid $1000 for the privilege of being unable to login during such a narrow test window were extremely pleased with making their donation. :emoji_neutral_face: Did the " outside studios asking about licensing " happen before September 5/6th (PA5 Shakeout), or after, I wonder?

He then goes on to talk about hundreds of thousands of collision objects being tracked "in the world", as a consequence of this Voltron-esque homegrown network library. Presumably simultaneously, with pseudo-physics.
I'm not saying he's deliberately lying, but he should probably stick to whatever it is he knows or is good at, because MMO server code? That ain't it.

The other interesting part is that the two new classes available to play are the Wizard and Rogue. And that they are struggling with the pet system for the Summoner.

Yep, they finally disclosed the real reason they've never shown the Summoner, to date. Apparently, controllable/stateful server-side NPCs (actual real pets) are hard.
(around 39m52s): " the pet system is probably the most complicated part of the abilities integration ".
It's great to see they didn't just waste the past 6.5 years not working on things like.. you know.. pets for pet classes. So great!

FFS if they haven't been properly implementing hardcoding these most basic features in twice the time it took to make EQ1 from scratch, WTF have they been doing? Lines off escorts asses? Where the bloody hell did all the money go?

I don't know if you picked up on it in the interview, but he stated in a roundabout way that this amazing new networking library ... has yet to be implemented. No, seriously, It's around the 24:02 mark.

He started at 23:34 with "we still have a big amount of work to do on the network libraries". I'm sorry, but I don't think anyone sane is going to pay for this amazing tech that they have, when they themselves can't even get it to work in their own product.

At this point I think the developers are just blowing smoke up his ass, so he in turn is spewing those hot air bubbles.

Man, and I thought the development pipeline for Tabula Rasa was trash....

I had to watch that thinking they talked about the pipeline, but they really didn't.

I liked it. Was the only place I'd worked that seemed to solve artist asset storage and database stuff.

The main problems I saw when I was there was that they had no tree structure for the terrain, so ray casts were crazy expensive, and the pathfinding had specific artist requirements and the artists frequently ignored them, leading to navmesh problems.

I had started on some visibility portal stuff for their world maps right around the time they did the big change over to the military stuff, but I didn't finish getting it in.

I knew Paul Sage back then. Guy was pretty lavish. Probably why he got along so well with Garriot. Not McAfee lavish, but you know what I mean.

I skimmed through this to see the climbing. Start at 6:10 and watch them struggle around climbing that gigantic cliff/rock in full plate mail with a shield. They scale it like it’s a ladder once they find the points that let them. Looks so fucking terrible lmao

People on reddit are so delusional. Some guy is on there claiming that they are being picked up by some big publisher and are gonna be releasing in 2022 lol.

I really have no clue why you'd drop off in the SJW thread if your time is limited. Of all the threads I'd visit if I didn't want to see cringy and was just breezing through....that would be last on the list. I'd come here first for the falling gifs or even updates about this awesome game. For an explanation, he hates that we enjoy the falling gifs so much and that we waste a little time talking about a game that will be an utter failure if it ever releases. Since your time is limited,
