Best PvP was early eq2 PvP where the PvP was competition for PVE encounters / raids / dungeons etc and thus lewts.

It seems thats what they are thinking and its fun as shit.

If its a group based game, you don't have to balance PvP for 1v1, its group vs group, which is natively balanced already :)
Eq2 pvp > all other pvp. It's really a shame the game never blew up.

Pantheon seems good even if I am triggered by the fact they haven't released mastery points. Between that and seemingly threadbare itemization early game I find myself not playing so much.

Arena focus really ruined pvp. This is the way.

I really loved Huttball in Star Wars. That was the only pvp I have ever really enjoyed. As long as your PVP doesnt mess up my PVE, I dont care what they do.

That's why it should be on a separate server and no development wasted on battlegrounds or arenas. Amen.

Making the content pvpers fight over better IS a way of making the pvp experience better.

This dude actually gets it. Blows my mind seeing him make this much sense despite so much noise about things.

If they can do what is in my mind a fix to interrupting channeled spells with things like glint and shield bash, then add de-mez spells (also for PvE uses) ala daoc.... don't change anything else. Solid stuff for the small necessary bit they did and it feels great otherwise.

Making the content to fight over better IS good for pvp.

That's why my friends and I played UO so much. Going into dungeons and having to watch out for other players not knowing if you were going to get ganked was exciting. Plus, you trained up the appropriate skills to tackle monsters but balance that with killing players. This was back in the late 90s and early 00 before they had all that Trammel bullshit. Terithan Keep farming spider people for magic weapons, lower levels of Deceit farming liches for gold and reagents, reds coming out of nowhere, watching your buddies back and Corp Porring or Vas Flamming away.

Such fun times. That's why I never really got into EverQuest like a lot of you and instead ended up jumping to DAOC. Everything was about playing a PVP game.

Huttball was the shit with a juggernaut. Probably the best instanced PVP game mode in an MMO I remember playing, and despite the crappy engine at release it at least ran well. The big massive PvP instance though not so much, but Huttball was pretty unique and there would be a lot of clutch moments pulling out a victory. Juggernaut jump attack for the win.

Fortunately Joppa understands how this works. Nobody is playing Pantheon pvp for e-sport reasons. Hope they don't lift a finger to change anything except a little bit of QoL.

I was extremely skeptical of Joppa filling the Brad shoes but he's learnt well and gets it. We lucked out in that regard.
