My almost 5 year old has been telling us stories all the time of when “ he was a baby...” and they are just his dreams (we think). Either way when they start developing their imaginations it’s fascinating.

Our kid has maintained since he was two or three that he lived in space before here, and they watch the humans and pick which family they want to be born into. He says he picked us cause he liked our cats and dog.

So my kid took his 3 hour long high ability test Monday. Got the scores back today and he got 99th percentile. They’re saying this means he reads at at least a second grade level, math at first grade level. The high ability class basically starts them out one 1st/2nd grade material.

See guys, reading constantly pays off! If you don’t do it already, start.

Grats!

The issue that I've discovered is my 7 year old can read everything, but reading comprehension is a problem. Sort of. I think he does understand, but then gets bored, so he just skims through, or stops reading to understand it because it didn't grasp him right away. He has to read to get any video game time at all, so he keeps doing it, and we've tried going shopping for books to try and get him books that he would enjoy, but he still complains.

dunno if this belongs here or in the PC/software thread,

what software or how do you manage how your kids use a PC? my boys are 8 & 10 and they're wanting their own PCs. Right now, they're mostly youtube, roblox and minecraft; but the 10 year old is wanting to play Fortnite. I'm also thinking they would enjoy going through Portal.

I obviously have an extensive Steam library, can they use that at all?
how do you set parental limits on how they can access the net? I know I can control via my router and their IPs, but should I use Windows accounts?

Yes we did have delayed milk production. My wife is breastfeeding when she can, and pumps whenever possible but we still have to supplement with formula all the time. Our girl is 9 lbs now so she needs 20-25 oz of milk/formula per day.

I didnt know the numbers on any of this stuff so it only recently dawned on me that biology demands that a woman is able to produce close to a liter of breast milk every 24 hours to feed the baby. Its nuts. I dont think there are many people in the world these days who are able to feed the baby 100% from breast milk. Basically everyone before Enfamil/Similac was invented was probably growing up undernourished.

If they didnt set you up with a lactation specialist before they discharged you at the hospital, call them up and ask them to set your wife up with one. It helped my wife tremendously. They teach you all the strats on how to min/max milk production so you can PL your n00b asap.

They did at the hospital and we are seeing another one tomorrow. I feel like we got most the strats its just a waiting game now. We’re pumping every 2-3 hours and one boob is up to about 3ml per pump and climbing. Odd thing is both boobs are engorged now, but only one is producing. I feel pretty bad she has to go through all the discomfort. Im taking over diaper duty to hopefully make up.

I don’t miss the breast feeding stage. That shit is so demanding and stressful for them. Trying to time pumps, the soul crushingness of having to dump sometimes cause you couldn’t get it refrigerated.

I’m so happy I was born male.
