I've popped in on a few different streamers practicing league starts and it's one person after another walking around at base movement speed doing Lightning Arrow Lightning Rod. The time it takes to get a character online doing what you want to be doing and feeling alright in the process is way too long.
This is what I started picking up on last time I was really playing the game. You're just wasting your time if you dont go for the most powerful nodes in the early levels that get you the furthest along. Then, as mkopec mkopec says - you change up along the way to what your actual build is once you're far enough along to get those nodes.
I dont find that the case at all. You pick a comfy leveling build to get to the monoliths, then farm some key pieces for the ultimate deeps build, then change. At least its what all the cool kids are doing. I mean it does not really matter in the normal game, but you hit those high monos and bosses and you find your shit sucks so you have to change.
I'm just personally not a fan of that change up. I get the soft spot of like the first what.. 10 levels? of every class being roughly the same build out path. But I'd prefer the major build defining nodes be closer to level 20 or so for every class, regardless of build. Some builds having to go on a fucking field trip from Qeynos to Kelethin just to get a build defining node in is nonsense. They redesigned a lot of shit though, so maybe this'll be less of a problem. At least Im hoping thats the case.

I think I'll have one complete playthrough this season, but I dont know how far I'll grind into the 70's or 80's on any character. It all depends on the RNG gods and how well the build I choose does with or w/o the proper loot.

Thinking I'll try out the new mortar stuff since I like the whole "shooter" mechanic of Merc, but there's a part of me that also wants to check out the unarmed monk stuff. I just know that melee tends to be pretty painful, especially early.

I'm just going to go Blood Mage caster into whatever works best. Think that's a pretty common thinking at this point so I'm sure some one will figure shit out before me to make it better along the way.

Hollow Palm feels like a 50/50 on whether it doesn't scale well enough or it's literally as bonkers as we think. Hopefully the second part.

Starting to get some old man aches in my fingers lately. Did a test run of a few zones today in act1 with controller and it worked really well.

Sorting items and the stash might have issues though, but will try a controller run this time.

People complain about switching from mouse and keyboard to controller, must be a pc thing, having them plugged into my Xbox is easy.

You're not spending enough time exercising your fingers via shit posting if they're getting sore.

Im pretty sure I was switching on the fly last time without issue. I wonder if its a setting.
Nah, it still works exactly the same as it did at the start of EA. There's a few things you can use mouse and keyboard for while the controller UI is active--mostly stuff like mousing over items in stash because it's faster than slowly dpad-ing them one by one and you can still use the keyboard to chat, paste regex into vendors/stash, etc. Nothing that involves a mouse click or keyboard hotkey will work at all however.

Should be soon it's usually ~2 hours or so before launch. Just make sure to relaunch steam.

Edit: Steam is live now.

Neversink's new filterblade thing that automatically generates a leveling filter for you based on what class and build you pick is live too.

FilterBlade (click the 'Auto-adjust for build' button).

Uber Strict Plus directly from the Shore! Only picking up Tinks!

But yea, that new feature was nice for picking Class as you level.

You can probably play without a filter, but it's nice that it highlights currency etc.

I know it got buffed as part of 0.2 but does enough loot now drop in the campaign to need a filter?
There's not an extreme amount of shit on the ground, but especially when playing with controller you really only want stuff to show if you're actually going to want to pick it up (because A button will be bound to both a skill and basic 'interact' function). Plus it should highlight things that are especially important to not miss. The default filter doesn't even show any difference in color/size between a scroll of wisdom and something like an exalted orb.
