Spent some currency to make a bow, doubled my sheet dps. Act3 went from a slog, to run and gun with bosses dying in 10 seconds or less.

Success with weapon upgrades changes the game entirely during your initial run through the acts. One fortuitous drop or craft halves (or better) the amount of buttons you need to press to make things die. If you're unlucky things are a slog until RNG smooths back out.

Yeah it was brutal until that point, kiting mob packs and yellows. Having to throw tons of rods down and then arrow, which when the mobs moving right to your face(And some of them super fast), you have to try to lay them out right or circle back, but always just get a few hits in before they are outside the range again.

I had no clue what I was doing either. My bow still has accuracy rating and light radius, but I got a big + lightning dmg and a phys dmg %. Think I spent 3 exalts doing it, but just made life so much easier.

I've found that the game really starts to finally feel decent toward the latter part of Act 1, provided you haven't completely sabotaged yourself with a potato build.

For context, I've been running a Hollow Palm monk setup, and honestly, during the first couple of hours I was on the verge of quitting altogether. The early pacing felt rough, but I'm glad I pushed through. Once you start unlocking level 5 skill gems or so, the experience takes a noticeable turn for the better. The abilities begin to feel impactful and far more enjoyable to use, which does a lot to smooth over the rough start.

I just wrapped up Act 4, and I have to echo the sentiment others have expressed that the devs did a commendable job with it overall. That said, I do think the act runs a bit on the long side, and I'm hoping the interlude sections move at a faster pace. At this point, I'm itching to dive into maps and really start blasting through content.

I've appreciated the inclusion of Abyss encounters. They've been a surprisingly reliable way to gear up in the early game, as the troves consistently provide a solid influx of rare items. It makes the initial grind feel much less stingy compared to previous leagues.

I feel like some consultant needs to come in and take stock of who is in charge of PoE1 and who is in charge of PoE2 because this isn't a case of "different games for different people" at this point.

PoE2 legitimately sucks and is pandering to a very niche audience by accident. Hilariously. And PoE1 has had some of the best patches of all time recently albeit far too slow.
This game is far from sucking. I mean come on. It needs more time and it needs just more, but suck? Why does POE2 have to be just like POE1? I like that they are trying to make a different game.

I mean in the end it will prob end up just being a POE1 anyway, because of all the fucking crying. And IMO its a shame.

POE still suffers from too fucking much and every patch just introduces more and more. Its a bloated mess for all but a few of those that return like colocwork every league.

My main concern is they really should have tried to switch up the different activities instead of just taking them all from POE1. I get that it probably saves a ton of dev time, but if they are supposed to be separate games they should have completely separate activities.......

I don't hate it at all, just not sure why it even exists since it will inevitably become just like the first game. If they want to go all in on the slower, more methodical combat, then maybe figure out some new content ideas that actually vibe with it.

Idk, abyss is probably insanely fun at endgame, but some of the a1-a3 zones it was crazy chaotic and if I wasn't playing a broken class I would have hated it.

I died ~5 times between Act 1 and Act 4 as a Blood Mage phys caster.

By the time I finished the interludes I had died 66 times at level 68.

It's mostly all a gear check. I spent 3 exalts and now I'm handling maps way easier with 55/55/55 resists instead of 15/25/25 or whatever bullshit I had. It would be nice if they had baby exalts that people weren't scared to use on rares they find that had no monetary value outside of slamming stuff you have. Some of the sub level 64 jawbones are like that, but you can only desecrate an item once so far that I've seen.

Feels much better than 0.2 and I'm actually using combo systems, but old farts with RSI probably would complain about that. The in-game market app is wonky as fuck (if you get an error, reset the currency price to ex/div buyouts instead of exalts or equivalent). Nice when it works though. New supports are more helpful as they're mostly just +gooder. I had like 9 lesser jewelers by mid Act 4 I think, so those weren't as bad, but I did have a huge support gem shortage sometime around then too.

Overall it's still tough at times, but it feels better to beat a boss you had to try and beat than to just complain it took 15 seconds to kill Brutus instead of 5 this time. Dying 15 times to a Faridun Prince or 15 times to Wisp Lady felt less good, but that was on me not working on my gear.

If they do a "here you go normies" patch in the next week or two this should be a great league and definitely a good step forward for PoE2 from previous playtests.

IDK I chose a merc for the first run and I had no probs with the abyss shit act 1 and 2 and I did all of them. Then my kid told me to roll up a ranger so I went with it. They were both about the sameish act 1-2 but further the ranger took off because the merc side of tree sucks for the most part.

Havent tried the casters although I hear they suck this patch and people are pissed. And rightfully so since they lauded those infusion changes but they cant even kill white mobs im hearing, lol.

Monk is not my thing although if I end up playing longer this league I would like to try one. And warrior melee shit, well its melee shit, lol.

I feel like I'm getting way more crafting mats going through the acts. Now I still don't think its good enough for a new player experience, but for a vet such as myself that knows what items are worth slamming and what aren't, I've made some pretty passable gear.

Now would the better play be to use these mats for trade? Yes obviously. Which got me thinking. I think TL:I had a similar mechanic. The crafting mats and gear you get in the campaign should probably be tiered differently and more abundant.

Although then we get into weird things like you don't even really start progressing/building up a nest egg until end game and that just kinda sucks so I dunno.

Does anyone know if the community fork for poe overlay works in poe2? I like that one cause the trade companion. But if I have to I'll use awakened POE2 trade.

Played the whole campaign with controller and it worked pretty much flawless.

Inventory management is okay but when you want to slam currency it is really clunky to fetch the orb and then slam them.

When they add so mouse works in controller mode it will be perfect.

Yeah found the sprint mechanic to feel much better with a controller. Also moving around shooting with a crossbow felt better as well. Works very well (except for moving currency around as mentioned)

I need sperg wisdom. am i better off with +5 to merc skills, or something like 30-100 more damage?

the second bow hasn't been socketed yet. so it can be better on the stats, but i'm not sure if it's gooder stats are worth loosing +5 to all projectile. I'm doing a galvanic/pin/shock/immobilize build. help me spergs!

my numbers are reporting higher in the thingy when i put the high damage bow on:

Got around to finishing the new stuff. Neat monster types and boss fights. Zones are still comically large even with checkpoints and sprint. I bet the fresh season campaign is going to be 100+ hours for the average gamer by the time GGG finishes the other acts. Leveling experience felt harder than I remembered or I just got worse during my break but I actually died like 10-15 times from start to maps. Mostly this was due to underestimating abyss mob vomit, but it is really great for loot so I don't mind it. Loot in general felt plentiful compared to what I remembered as I had at least 15-20+ of all currency aside from divs and jeweller's orbs and I didn't really fish from vendors as much. Projectile attacks getting blocked on every texture in the game is pretty annoying esp with how abyss alters the landscapes and the melee hit boxes feel even worse than before so idk wtf they did there. New in game trade thing is neat and I'm glad they make everyone deal with a small amount of SSF until it's unlocked . Not impressed with multiple levels of +gooderer support gems or making the trade offs on the highest level ones. Just more needless bloat to a game that suffers from it already and isn't even close to the real release. "Crafting" is still ass. I give the patch a 3.5/5 and don't see how they release the full game before 2027-28 if this is all we've gotten in almost a year. God bless.

my biggest experience this league so far is that i'm pretty consistantly running and gunning and dunking on yard trash and rolling through them with no effort, then i get to bosses and i have a 'hard' time killing them before i run out of gas and am waiting on mana regen to finish them off. i still won almost all the bosses on the first go. I think gold pit forge guy i had to buy some gear for. and jamanra. and i had to buy chaos resists for the vyper. and for whatever reason the cult-ape guy in the excavation i had to fight four times and upgrade dps a little. again, ran out of gas. not sure if the bosses here have more hp this go. or just my build is worse against single target (i think it is).
