I really hope the controller switching lands. When I listened to the interview I was not sure I heard right and that is was not in due to needing the guy who made it fix fragment stash tabs. But maybe he is working on it now up to release at the end of the month.

Playing D4 with controller and then using mouse for inventory feels really good. I tend to like controller more as I get older.
That was an AI-generated summary so it got a lot of things wrong. Watching the video, it still does not sound like there's any chance for hotswap at the start of 0.5. I think the best hope is that it happens sometime during the 'event leagues' leading up to 1.0.

Definitely not touching the game again until they do add it. I don't play anything for long periods of time without controller, but there's certain things in an ARPG that just can't be done effectively without a mouse.

Problem is they, painted themselves into a corner waiting so long to fix the end game, so they probably threw all their resources at it.

He said in his interview that this end game redesign started after 0.3 but they just didnt have enough of it done to send it along with the druid in 0.4. So they have been working on this for quite a while. Longer than people realize. As to the no more major patch thing, he said they could either keep going like this and release seasonal shit with bits and pieces of the game or they chose to end the major patches here and concentrate on finishing the game, aka 1.0. Better for the game and better for his team which have been running ragged.

Wasn't interested in last patch (or 2? I last played the abyssal one), but this reveal did enough to get me back for 0.5. I'll probably try the new huntress ascendancy.

talks about classes towards the end

This is what the reddit post above was summarizing but it got removed by mods cause they used AI to do the summary and there was a bunch of shit that was outright wrong due to the AI not understanding the words or rewording them in a way that was basically the opposite of what was being said.

I think one of the main concern I have about classes and 1.0 is they specifically said they can't add classes too easily cause they're more work than a league but then how long is it going to take them to add every missing classes when they have to spam leagues? Currently they can get away with shit like 6months leagues because it's technically early access and all that but once they "release", they'll have to keep pumping out new leagues, and meanwhile they still have to work on releasing each class plus new weapons, each with their many skills(more than they usually add in a given league patch) and all the new animations for every other classes with said weapons. Feels like the next 2years major patches are just going to be "finally we added swords, daggers are here" stuff. And in the meantime, I assume a lot of existing classes are just going to fall further behind as new shiny shit is being added but they don't have the time to revise the old stuff until they're done.

Ultimately, I don't care that much personally since many of the missing classes are stuff I didn't give a shit about in PoE1 anyway(I don't think I've ever played a Shadow, I had one Marauder and one Duellist and like 2-3 Templars in the many years I played, I just liked playing Witch and Ranger a lot more). I do want Daggers and Viper Strike since it's one of my favorite skill in PoE1 but that's about it. Still find it questionnable.

Think about it this way, it will be stuff to look forward to after 1.0 other than a new league 15. The weapon thing is kinda disturbing though since in this game all the skills are tied to weapons for the most part, so missing some of the key players like axes, swords, daggers....There is a ton of skills missing too. I hope they at least get this shit in before 1.0 other than acts 5 and 6 which are really whatever on my list. What they have right now with the mini acts for 5 and 6 is good enough for me.

Yeah personally I think the priority should have been reversed but well I guess for casual players a full story is better than a large amount of skills. But yeah it's missing a lot of stuff, even some basic ARPG staples like Whirlwind or Hammerdin mechs.

Anyway for me the bigger change is having a set goal kind of thing for the endgame. I do resonate a lot with what they said about giving people a clear goal for when a league is done. Usually in PoE1, once I was done with challenges, I was done with the league, plus whatever content that was added in the patch(pinnacle bosses and what not) so formatting the endgame with clear progression and adding league challenges is great for that.
