ahh that's really good to know. so the raven-touched shard perminantly burns out a socket, but then makes the helmet able to be anointed using the standard method?

i wonder if it burns out both sockets on a corrupted helmet....or if corrupted helmet prevents anointing. hmm
Na just one socket, the shard is "socket bound" meaning you can't remove it once it's in there, and yeah it makes the item annointable normally. There's also 4 uniques that can roll it but these are very build dependant, like the cull gloves. There's also double annoint amulets but these cost a fortune if you want 2 good ones so...

So how different is the game versus the first one? I'm finally about to finish up act 10 in the original, and the game's been fun, but there's some really annoying stuff, like suddenly exploding from some mystery attack that you can't even tell hits you. I'm sure my goofy build isn't optimized, but I don't really know how things start to scale as you get closer towards the end.

It just definitely seems that it's very new player friendly, which isn't bad and I'm having fun messing around with stuff, but there's definitely a learning curve, especially with crafting. I mangled a couple of deals and ruin some things over the course of leveling just not knowing stuff.

Biggest thing is I wanted to just kind of cut my teeth on it because I figured a lot of stuff would transfer over to the second one systems wise, or am I wrong about that?

I went for a crit swap today but I tried to go the cheap route and make a passable bow. First attempt came out pretty bad but usable and it seems to be roughly on par with where my non-crit setup was, maybe slightly worse but can still do t15s. 2nd attempt was god-awful. Bow bases are stupidly fuckin expensive, so not sure how I want to move forward with it. 1-2 divs for white i81 3sockets, 15divs++ for anything with a decent phys% and a useless shit suffix.

LOL So I forgot that my hollow form whirling assault gem was like lv14 or some shit. Upgraded that shit to lv18 now and holy shit. That and the added +6 from my gear? This monk is EZ mode. I put armor beaker with Ancestral call on it and I drop 3 bells that just fucking destroy anything that feels tough. Bosses melt. Its almost as powerful as my kids oil barrage build, but not quite. Its kind of clunky how you have to upgrade that hollow form gem though. You have to remove both whirling assaults, then make a new one at the high level then insert it back. They need to make that shit upgradable.

Yeah, Hollow Form has a lot of issues with it right now. They don't proc heralds either.

And apparently anointing an amulet with Well of Power seems to be a character bug that some people have and some people don't. So, solving my mana issues are a real PITA unless I completely redo my build. I'm considering just starting a new one altogether, but I have almost 100Div invested. Fucking sucks they haven't fixed this shit yet.

Yeah mana is a def issue. I felt it right away when I upgraded that gem. But I kinda solved it by taking some more mana efficiency nodes fro now. It seems to be keeping up, that and of course a good mana jar. I was actually thinking about that annoint, glad I didnt do it yet. Still its rocking juiced up T15s so I have no complaints. Maybe its a bit slower with the mana shit but ill deal until I fix it permanently, and hopefully GGG fix the issues too.

I was really sad when I took the twister bitch at launch of 0.5 instead of the monk, looking back. It was either or and I chose the wrong one, lol. Not that twister bitch is bad or anything, just not as fun to play.

The anointing doesn't bug for everybody. Yours might work fine. That's the real fucker for the bug and I think why GGG probably hasn't fixed it yet.

Did some good farming yesterday and bought the cores for the Divine Boss Man.

Unlocked all the Atlas and got the final Challenge done.

Does he even drop anything? 5 runs and only rare/blues.

He drops uniques, but for some reason Neversink's filter was filtering them all in strict/super strict or whatever, even though a couple a worth more than 1ex, I turned off the filter and grabbed them off the ground and they sold for 1-3ex quickly, nothing crazy though. The spear is 15div too but obviously it's a rare drop.

Not for long. Jonathan is softening on that and I'm pretty sure they're going to implement something eventually.

Yeah they mentioned they have something internally already, but they want to present the info in an interesting way. Not just what killed you, but why like which defense attribute you needed to survive like more armor, evasion or resistance.

You have died because you did not have enough life.

Can't wait

I hope it comes in the form of a paperclip who gives you advice after you died.

WHAT HAPPENED WAS.....i had...planned my resists with a companions elemental resist aura on. and when i rolled too far away, or it died...my resists for some stuff dropped to like 50.

What they mentionned was more like "You died to a 8400 physical hit. Your 36 armor reduced the damage by 0.02%, your 3000 evasion failed to evade with 4% chance and you had 0% physical reduction or conversion" kind of thing, which should be kinda useful. If they can snapshot like the last second it'd be great to figure out what you died to probably, even if it doesn't mean you'll be able to do too much about it. Still better than "uh I'm dead, I have no idea what hit me" you get nowadays, especially if your build is like 90% of the skills and just vomit particles everywhere so you can't see shit to begin with.
