I put off watching the finale because everyone said it was so shit. My god they really saved the most boring episode for last, huh? Like, what the fuck even was that?

I also get that they're trying to tie this into some whole DC universe thing, but they probably shouldn't assume I know who or what any of this shit is. Like, I have no idea what a "meta human" is, but they just decided to throw that in randomly here at the end of this season like I watched some random shit movie that came out after the first season of this show.

Meta humans are legumers in this and the trump/luthorcorp want to deport them all.

Lol at the forum edit.

In a season where nothing seems to actually happen? It fell way, way below expectations, even for this terrible season. A season where their superhero marksman doesn't once use his super power, a multiverse plotline amounts to nothing, and the main draw of the first season which was humor is dropped instead for all the characters being depressed assholes.

Someone else said it the other day, but this felt like they just pieced together a bunch of extra footage they had leftover and tried to make it seem related.

On the plus side, even if there's a season 3, after this disaster I can safely write it off completely.

Peacemaker set up Lex Luthor working directly with the US Government to punish meta humans. And his crew kept getting more and more freedom as the show went on. That probably is important.
I hate the phrase "meta humans."

I know it's been used in the comics since 1989, but it's still silly.

It sounds like itd be fine for a scientific classification but not for every day vernacular. That 5'2 Cyborg latina lady is a meta human? Shes just got super-advanced prosthetics, essentially. She's very much a human, not a super powered person, any more than someone with a rocket launcher is a super powered person.

I remember Elon Musk being on Rogan's podcast back in like 2017/18 talking about what technically is a cyborg. If you use any technology to augment your body or processing, that would be technically a cyborg. The example he used was seeing glasses or using your phone to store data (such as calendar dates), and since you have a phone with you at all times, you're already a cyborg with an external port.

Technically clothing is technology to protect you from external environs, so I'm wondering if the threshold isn't necessary that you wear technology, or is apart of your normal body, but rather technology is used to outsource processing procedures (such as a pocket calculator).

Another dumb thing was Gunn was hyping cameos and massive reveals and those turned out to be... Luthor and Salvation/Checkmate (the Deadpool cameo would have been cool but it was dead in the water many months ago). LOL. Unless you read the comics, you have no fucking idea of the significance of Checkmate or Salvation. If you just watched the show, you probably thought Checkmate was just the lame name of their business that looks to be ran like some dumb startup. And the whole idea of Salvation (prison for meta humans) was completely undercut by the same idea showing up in Superman. I've give him credit that he seems to actually be somewhat of a comic nerd but he has to translate that to the actual product aimed towards mass millions.

i just wish james gunn had a better fetish than old rock bands nobody remembers. tarantino at least gives us feet pix of hotties, tons of directors have tits & ass fetishes, but all we got out of peacemaker is a long ass shitty music video on a boat

i guess gunn must have some cuck fetishes too given how many dudes his wife was banging in show. surprised they didn't do a It style team orgy or some equally stupid shit, although honestly Vigilante and Adabayo having sex would look HILARIOUS

Can confirm. I do think this.

I feel like to make a great adaption, take the best selling comics and just adapt that one:eek:ne (as best you can) into a movie. It worked for Sin City and 300.

Take The Dark Knight Returns, Under the Red Hood, The Court of Owls/City of Owls, Flashpoint, etc. Just take great comics and make them great movies. I think the issue is when they try to reinvent the wheel like what Zack Snyder did with DC or what Gunn is also doing with DC. At least we still have Matt Reeves' the Batman. I can live with the white mayor being put down and replaced by a strong independent woman thing. It's a flawed movie but it's at least better than whatever Marvel and Gunn are putting out (besides Deadpool).

The other issue is trying to do the whole multiverse thing that has been played out for years, especially in comics related media. I mean even DC did it with the WB Crisis of Infinite Derps crossover series, complete with even an Earth X crossover arc. Such a shame, given all the potential here. So many more entertaining things they could have done with the series and they go straight to WB drama and multiverse shit. Should have put them up against some equally obscure and lame villians for a season in a team vs team fight. 11th Street Kids vs Kiteman and Pals would have killed it.

I think they need to treat the "multiverse" the way comics have always treated other comics in the past (and when I say past I mean pre-Crisis in the comics. It's other stuff going on. And then very rarely you'd have a cameo "team up" between two characters. Somewhere around Crisis on Infinite Earths comics started the "big super over arching story" bit, which was a bad habit which movies seemed to have now embraced. Maybe you have a team comic like Justice League, but you do that once you have well established anchor characters.

Of course I say this and I still personally hope they do a full on 80s-90s style JL movie (which having Guy Gardner sets up).

What the movie execs want is a system where you HAVE to buy in fully, watch every movie, watch every show, etc. What they don't realize is that in comics there are a ton of people who love Batman and only read stuff he's in, or likewise for Superman, or Spiderman, or X-men. Not everything is an infinite never ending crossover. Make a good Superman movie without worrying about it leading into something else. Iron Man 1 was a great movie, and only the post credit scene teased anything else. Oh yeah, and ditch post credit scenes.

Damn, I'm all over the map tonight....

This is why I stopped reading the latest Batman issue. I read all the New 52 and liked it. VERY little cross over except the occasional issue. Then with Rebirth once it got to a cross over arc with all the other bat family stuff I just was like… dude I can’t buy 15 comics in one month to follow this story. I’m out.

then I never picked it back up.

As Stan Lee said, “every comic issue is someone’s first issue.” And you should write each one to where you don’t have to follow every single D+ show to know what’s going on.

disney got hella lazy and the adults who said “that’s not a good idea” were removed and replaced by DEI hires. Plain and simple.

Hoping Gunn gets thrown out on his ass when the merger goes through and they tap Reeves to lead creative.

Tbh, I hope this doesn't happen with Reeves. I like him where he's at. Telling intimate and grounded stories with a small crew. I rewatched his Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, and albeit there were some flaws in it (much like there are some flaws in The Batman), it was still very enjoyable. I like Matt Reeves' work.

I think The Superman movie could've been redeemed with a better edit, tbh. It had good bones. I think the 2008-2019 MCU magic was lightning in a bottle and it required, for better or for worse, leadership that were willing to say no to things. As soon as Marvel 86'd Perlmutter, the former CEO of Marvel Entertainment, the quality started to dwindle. Then by the time all his projects were done with, it has become total shit. The directors of Marvel D+ shows will boast they've never read the comics and don't know the characters, etc.

I stopped reading anything >2015 when it comes to Marvel or DC. There are a few exceptions (Donny Cates' 2019-2021 Venom run was pretty good), but for the most part I don't keep up with the joneses. And I'm a lifelong comic book fan. Now that I'm mid 30s and in a good place in my career, I have a lot of expendable income I could waste on comics, but they're pulling an Amber Heard and have shat in the bed.

Marvel, and DC, would be better off just telling intimate smaller stories with occasional cross-over. Unnecessary cameos that don't add to the plot now-a-days are expected, even.

Saw reports his contract is protected if there is a sell. Might not have complete control, but buyers would have to pay a lot to get rid of him

Yeah, but they could take him off the overarching helm of the whole cinematic thing and instead just have him work specific projects. In my perfect world he would be in charge of a Justice League movie and could mold the whole thing in his style off the late 80's/90's era JL and I bet it would be a hit. Same with getting him a good Ted Kord and Booster Gold and doing a buddy cop Booster/Beetle movie. This shit and style would be firmly in his wheelhouse.

Then find their version of the early MCU creative direction team if they really just insist on a cohesive universe. (NOT a Feige)

They should've stayed with Gunn on Peacemaker/SuicideSquad stuff, let him keep doing his style and rated R movies, while keeping the big Justice League content the same. They could've used the Flash movie to get rid of Ezra Miller, and stayed with the usual cast of Cavill, Gadot, Affleck, etc.
