I mean, I'm sure Pattinson's gonna be amazing, but whose idea was this? Check their hard drive.

First half of the last Adam Corolla show was with Chris Hansen; part of which is talking about this film. In short, he was not interviewed or consulted about the movie.

TLDW: They wanted him to help promote it, but he would have had to sign a NDA just to see a screener (so he declined). The movie director showed it to a friend of Hansens', who is also a director and wasn't required to sign an NDA. He states that the trailer and second hand info from his friend were all fiction. They used the real names of all the behind the scenes people involved in making the show (non public people), even though it's possible that they made most of events/dialog up (which could affect their current and future jobs).

He is being pragmatic about the whole thing and is still going to use the film as a way to promote his current project on YouTube. His channel is primarily concerned with exposing child exploitation in places such as Roblox. He is not directly involved with any part of the film or it's promotion.
