I saw that shit in the theater! PeeWee really hams it up.
Dude he’s great in it as Lefty.

Young David Arquette looks like Ryan Gosling.

Kristy Swanson is a mega babe.
schwing GIF

Some of the plotting is pretty bad like “why are these characters in the woods conveniently to rescue this character?” Stuff like that is never explained (or was an edited out).

Also a VERY young Ben Affleck is in this as a competitor basketball player she’s cheering at. He even has a line.

it’s pretty fun. The basketball coach and the cheerleaders are hella woke and it’s very funny because they’re clearly satire. Don’t think Whedon would be this satirical about towards SJW stuff today. My gut reaction was that part was a director decision not in the screen play.

Turns out Whedon wrote the script originally (I thought it was based on a comic). And then 4 years later bc he didn’t like how the director made the movie light hearted, he decided not to write a sequel but instead write a series that aimed for a darker tone. Albeit I’ve never seen the series.

Yeah, I never bothered with the series either. Think I was more into stuff like The X-Files and Space Above & Beyond back then, which sucks be they cancelled it.

I have a PG rated dream about dating Kristy Swanson last night. I’m not mad about it.

Wild how these old movies used to cast such beautiful people as their lead roles and it wasn’t seen as regressive. best part is, as far as I know, Kristy was entirely natural in the movie. Around 23, no Botox or lip filler, HRT, etc. just a naturally beautiful woman.

I mean I’ll see a beautiful woman cast every now and then in newer films, but it’s rare, and when I watch old movies it’s constantly filled with eye candy. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Good Kyle Gallner flick and one of his first ones as more then a background actor. Low budget but great practical effects / cringe CGI effects lol, and a great possessing act from the lead actress. Kind of gets silly in the end but it’s a fun twist

Good Halloween season flick and a solid 7.5/10 and it’s on Shudder
I enjoyed this also.

Just watched Found Footage, pretty fun little movie, had it's moments.

The one I recommended a lil while ago? Glad you enjoyed it!

Watched this last night after the Cleansing Hour

These have always been hit or miss but this years had much better stories. The dude who did REC did one which was short but pretty great and had more in common with the first REC then the rest (good thing). The dude who did "Too Many Cooks" on Adult Swim and wrote Mandy did one and it was bonkers lol.

There was a kid serial killer one that got a little too dark so we skipped it half way through, it wasnt fun. The interlude story which was a soda company trying to make a haunted dink was fun and low budget. Good year for it, and would be fun for a friends drinking night, just skip the kid disappearance story "Kidprints" unless you are really in the mood for it, its a hard watch and not a fun one. The rest are all fun.

The V/H/S series has been a guilty pleasure of mine from the first one, but one I repeatedly forget exists.

Yeah, I couldn't remember who recommended it. Like I said, it was a fun movie, knew what it was, and was worth the watch.

I watched that new VHS the other day, it's okay. You're right though, they pretty hit and miss, always a segment or two that are stinkers. The last story in the new one was the best I think.

Speaking of REC, all four are on Shudder right now. The first two were great, the third one is horrible, and I don't even remember the fourth one I think it was on a boat.

I need to at least re-watch the first two cuz I haven't seen them in a handful of years, and the second one is fantastic. Definitely two of my favorite found footage movies.

Just finished The Cured. Different type of zombie apocalypse movie, and really enjoyed it. Highly recommend.

I’m not super into zombies, last zombie movie I saw was zombie land 2 in theatres. I do remember really liking Night of the Living Dead (1968), Planet Terror (2007?), and 28 Days Later.

It wasn't your typical zombie movie. It's about the idea that you have an outbreak and a cure is found, and the zombie people are reintegrated into society. It's set in Ireland. Was surprised at how much I liked it, despite never hearing of it. Definitely leans heavier on drama then horror.

Give it a shot.

Group of friends are having a party, there's comet and weird shit starts happening only for our party goes to learn they're interacting with an unknown number of alternate realities. It's a really, really low budget film. I didn't like the characters. I didn't like the camera work (shakey Friday Night Lights style a lot of the time). I didn't like the dialogue. The premise and the way it plays out are pretty good though with a last act that is very strong. It's something I'd like to see with an entirely different cast/crew and a bit more money.

Sounds interesting. A little bit like Maggie with Arnold Schwarzenegger, in that one the conversion from healthy human to zombie took months (like a cancer almost). It was a drama rather than action film.

btw I tried watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer S1 E1 tonight after loving the Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1992) movie last night.
I got about 30 min in before turning off the show. Never watched the show growing up and tbh wasn’t my thing. I much prefer movies over tv due to lack of filler and I much prefer the campy tone of the movie to the darker more serious tone of the tv show. The movie felt more like army of darkness vibes. The Buffy tv show was a CW show and it felt like it.

No Hard Feelings 6/10. I think this movie was made because Jennifer Lawrence was having a midlife crisis and needed to be reminded shes still attractive.

INTHEMIDSTOFLIONS INTHEMIDSTOFLIONS I know you said you aren't a fan of zombie movies, but you should watch REC 1&2. Spanish horror movies, found footage. I rewatched the first one last night before bed, and I'm about halfway through the second one. I've watched them multiple times and they still hold up.

However, I know the first time I watched them it was a wild ride, especially the second one. If you've not ever seen them, they are some of the best horror movies in the last 20 years or so, and definitely a pinnacle of the found footage genre.

Perfect Halloween stuff.

I guess no one liked the alien story in the last VHS but me. I'll be watching the new one this week.
I don't remember that one, was that VHS 1994 or whatever? The last few have been pretty forgettable. The second and third were the standouts.

I’ll add it to my list! I was thinking about it today and I did watch “army of the dead” during lockdowns and tbh, I enjoyed it. It was a bad movie and I wouldn’t recommend it, but I had a good time.

I think it’s when they try to make horror movies a melo drama is when I disengage. Like world war z was not a fun undead movie, but army of darkness IS a fun undead movie. Albeit army of darkness is infinitely better than army of the dead.

REC is actually a demon possession movie but it seems like zombies. It’s a weird thing where you watch it and think zombies. Highly reccomend the first two though
