James Earl Jones’ costume design was prescient.

anyone who has bangs like this is always batshit insane.

Conan being straight up crucified is wild choice for 1982, during the Satanic panic. Hell yeah.

hacking the head off James earl jones was also pretty rad. Act 2-3 didn’t suffer nearly as bad of “and then” that first act did.

I've been rewatching some Michael Mann movies, and did HEAT couple weeks ago, such a classic. Watched his first movie Thief for the first time last week and it was pretty good. Definitely tell it was sort of a prototype for HEAT.
Manhunter is the best Hannibal Lecter movie. There I said it.

Over-hyped...

Reminded me of "from Dusk to Dawn" without as much charisma.

Plus the ending-- the ending (not the post/during credit sequence) was unnecessary.

A lot of elements to the film that made it enjoyable to watch, but in actually, it is a mess of a movie.

Probably will win a gazillion academy awards.

I give a 6.9 for music, cinematography, vampires and Buddy Guy.

So on your recommendation I watched Thief today, pretty damn great movie. You left out possibly the best part , the best part of all 80's movies, a soundtrack by Tangerine Dream!

8.5/10

Hell yeah, the last scene specifically and the score throughout it and the end credits is phenomenal.

All of Mann's earlier films were Tangerine Dream, if I'm not mistaken. Third, Manhunter and The Keep specifically. Might be another one. I still wish I could watch the full 3 hour version of The Keep, but apparently it's lost two time, but there's a director's cut out there that's maybe over 2 hours.

We watched Happy Gilmore 2.

it was maybe a 3/5. I enjoyed it. I laughed a lot in act 1-2. Act 3 was bad. Had a lot of good jokes in it, and a lot of references to the first. I wish they had not literally shown scenes from the first movie every time there was a cameo, but overall I enjoyed it as a one time watch. Would not watch again though, would rather just rewatch Happy Gilmore (1).

I think sequels do the best when they treat it as an entirely new storyline / story arc but with some returning cast members. Not just a rehash of every storyline or character arc from the first story.

Watched this with my wife.

Cannot really recommend it. Wolverine can sing and dance, we all know he's half a fag but wow he sings and dances Neil Diamond songs?! It's also not a happy movie by any stretch. When the wife (who wanted to see it) went to sleep in the middle of it , I turned it off. That's all you really need to know about it.....
