Watched a movie last night called Black 47. Revenge story that takes place in 1847 Ireland during the potato famine. Hugo Weaving and the Irish protagonist from the Crying Game are both in it, forget the second dudes name.

Was surprisingly good, and for an hour and a half it was just a nice little, well done movie. Worth a watch.

Stephen Rea. Think I saw a trailer for this a while back. Might have to check it out then.

Yeah, that's his name. The more I thought about it, the protagonist is like an Irish Rambo. There's no messaging or diversity shit, just a solid movie. Definitely give it a watch.

Just rewatched Sex Drive from 2008. For a dumb little "coming of age" movie, I like it a lot. Particularly James Marsden as the older brother. There is an unrated version floating around, but it mostly has deleted scenes, director's commentary, and then scenes will randomly have a naked chick walk in front of the scene. She's not even in the actual scene, they just superimpose her over the top to toss some nudity in because it's "unrated." I can respect that.

This is also the movie where I started to crush on Amanda Crews, before she was even in Silicon Valley.

I rewatch that movie every couple of years. It's exactly the type of movie you'd expect it to be, but it's well done.

Been bouncing around the old 007s as they all are on netflix

Sorry not sorry… what was wrong with Timothy Dalton? His two seem good, 1/3 through the 2nd of his now. I like License to Kill - they had Q do stuff, that was nice.

Casino Royale is my favorite bond movie ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I like the first three Craig bond films, and I’ve even read the OG Ian Fleming novel.

it would be rad if we returned to THAT Bond, which is what Daniel Craig was close to in Casino Royale: cold hearted, chain smoking, alcoholic, womanizer, kills bad guys without remorse. They turned him into a boy by the end of the series. We need to return to the Sean Connery days. Just have it be period pieces set in the 50s and 60s.

Yes. James Bond is supposed to be the very essence of what Liberals call Toxic Masculinity. Mostly because they are exactly the kind of disgusting he-beasts that James Bond would never fuck.

Finished my rewatch of Breaking Bad, and decided to fire up El Camino. For some reason I remember hearing it was terrible when it came out, but the reviews all seemed pretty decent for it in current year.

It was a good "this is what happened to Jesse in that missing year" and him navigating the wake of Walter White's finale. It was a little out of character at times, where Jesse had to have Walter White-esque planning to move the plot forward, but I'll chalk that up to osmosis from being around him so long.

Overall though I'll give it a 7/10. It was definitely solid enough to have been a 2 episode series of Breaking Bad. And that's really all you can ask for.

I watched the running man remake, the 2 partners of the main char felt superflous, there was no backstory with them like the original so there's no reason to care why they're killed off, which they were immediatly. The plot devices are meh, The metaphors are kinda in your face and pacing is like almost too smooth, the esthethic is what it really has going for it. it almost feels like you're watching a video game get played.

Inferior remake but not an god awful one.

I’ll just rewatch the Jesse Ventura Arnold Schwarzenegger one.

We watched the Guardians of the Galaxy 1 last night. Back when Marvel was on their game and made movies people like. Damn that was a good movie. I'd never heard of that comic when the movie came out and figured it would be shit. Sure wasn't. Yeah I know 2 & especially 3 were not as good but 1, wow what a great movie.

9/10 - I rewatch it min once a year.

I’ve read a lot of DC and Marvel comics, but never the original GOTG. From what I recall, this version is completely different from the original comic version and James Gunn basically created new personalities and storyline for the MCU. While it worked for this movie, I do think it set the tone for other failures where this method did not work (Moon Knight, for example). I actually used to be really into comics and indie comics until about 2016: I went back to university and the Dc/Marvel comics went hella woke at that time so when I did pick up new issues once Rebirth started they were terribly written. I eventually just stopped reading new comics entirely due to the quality drop. From The New 52 to Rebirth (and likewise whatever was going on with Marvel).

OG Marvel had some great movies. Blade 1-2 are classics. But even the OG MCU is killer.

Apparently Iron Man (1) started filming without a completed script. Every day before they shot each scene, Jon Favreau, Jeff Bridges, and RDJ would be in the trailer writing dialogue and calling up friends like Ron Howard and asking them for advice on dialogue lol.

I don’t remember which one, but one of those three said it was the most expensive “student film” ever made.

Since the main man Robert Duvall died today the wife wanted to watch one of his movies. I immediately pointed out that we have 4K rips of both outstanding Godfathers but she wasn't in the mood so I introduced her to a movie my 18 year old ass went to see in the theater. I *thought* I had the world by the balls at that time.

Worth a watch if you have never seen it. Bobby D plays a veteran cop paired with a shit head younger cop (played by real life shit head Sean Penn)
Fun trivia fact: Sean Penn served time in jail for assaulting an extra taking his picture without permission. Never have liked that douche.
