Aniara (2018)

Man, if you want to watch a depressing ass movie, watch this. I thought it was pretty good, but it definitely requires a certain taste. It’s based on a 1950s poem about a big transport spaceship that gets knocked off course. Passengers get lied to and fed false hope the whole way. Total feeling of hopelessness. It’s one of those movies that sticks with you afterward. I watched the English dub, which has some cringe dialogue, so it might be better with just the subtitles. Anyway, solid 3.5/5 from me.
I watched it a while ago and I agree it's pretty depressing but still thought it was a pretty good film. The subtitled version is definitely better.

Watched this as we do horror movies on the weekend in October. Still fucking legit. Brad Dourif makes the movie.
This movie fucking rules. It has a huge cult following too.

I finished Exorcist 1 and 3 the last two nights. Had never seen 3 and it is one of the few movies that I genuinely wished was longer just so we could see more Scott and Dourif. Was really incredible. Sucks it has taken me so long to finally see it but was an amazing first watch, especially back-to-back. Been over 20 years since watching the original Exorcist too. Man, that movie is fucked up today but must have been turbo fucked up for 1973.

Yeah I got turned onto it by The Last Drive In. So glad I did. I watch it almost every year. I really love Halloween 3 as well, for similar odd ball reasons.

Yeah I was like Halloween 3 just because it was different. Same actor who plays the male protagonist was also a Night of the creeps which is another great '80s horror movie, but it's pretty hard to find especially the full length cut. It's worth seeking out if you can get a hold of it.

Tonights blast from the past was a good one:

Colin was on Graham Norton promoting some marathon documentary (?) and mentioned this movie came to him right after he was out of rehab. All that drinking/drugging in the movie was like rubbing it in his face. Great flick. It starts sort of weird but stick with it. Also everyone from the Harry Potter movies except Weasley and Granger are in it.

I tried, this is white man bad garbage. Wahlburg looks incredibly stupid in his makeup.

2/10 would not bang.

Mother of God I love a great espionage film. And there really are lot of "spy movies" but damn few espionage masterworks.

This is one. It is LeCarre meets Angela Taylor meets Barry Eisler in SOuth America (It's a Spanish film).

It is brilliant but it demands attention. There is a LOT going on and it is all relevant.

It's a FANTASTIC film. 8.5 Genius level.

Also (since I am in my espionage phase):

This is everything and NOTHING like every other female spy/assassin film you have ever seen. Chess is the theme (even though it is only subversively so). Extraordinary-- nothing is what it seems, except it is ALL what it seems. See it. It's another masterwork of spy films. Also 8.5

Don't Move. Solid creature feature. Give it a solid 7 out of 10. If you are a fan of Impractical Jokers there are lots of Easter Eggs.

Believer 1 & 2

Watched them both, they are Korean movies, about a cop and an vengeful drug maker working against each other to try to take down Mr. Lee, the shadowy drug kingpin behind a new, incredibly valuable drug on the market - Laika.

Lots of action, a good mystery in both movies, and well-paced. 9/10 for both.
