I have this game in the backlog and my rationalization for not playing it is a potential remake... it would be nice if Rockstar could have a clear position on the subject.

You know how AC: Black Flag is seen with regards to providing the definitive "pirate experience"? RDR is that for the "cowboy experience", minus the baggage of also trying to be an AC game.

TECHNICALLY it works the same way in GTA 5. The problem with that game is for some reason they gave animals the ability to report crimes so that coyote hiding in the bushes just called 911 on Michael there.

You can go to a Saloon. Lasso a hooker. Tie her on the train tracks, watch the train run over her.... and get an achievement for it.

GTA in the Wild West. Aforementioned strippers, bar fights etc... It's a pretty bulletproof formula. Story is also very enjoyable. I thought the "zombie" dlc shit was pretty cool also.
