Yea, the Archer boss is a tough first boss to get. His targetted rain of arrows attack can get you into really bad situations, especially with a lot of adds up. Most people get the lumbering sword wielding guy that spawns explody adds.

The first boss is oddly challenging for some. The trick is to run out in the open room so that you have space between you and the add spawns. Focus mostly on dodging the little fucks before they explode. No idea what difficulty you guys are playing on, though. This was on Hard, not legendary.

It's not always the same first boss.

ah, you're right. It's been a while. I had the dude in the enclosed space who spawned a shitload of little bomb-men. He took a while.

Game actually gets easier the further you get. After about the half way point I was dying far less often and 1 shotting some of the bosses I'd never seen before. Then I started a new playthrough and would get my shit wrecked again

Unless you get fucked on drops. My last play through on a new character we never saw a new weapon. We kept getting melee weapons, it was fucking brutal.

Eh you can get through the entire game with just the SMG and Shotgun fairly well. Sniper Rifle/SMG combo works well too. Skullbuddy Mod and Beam Rifle can make things a ton easier for the last two works, for sure though.

Reinstalled the game in prep for the DLC, but I'm pretty sure I read that they nerfed everything I used to use into the ground. :/

What was your go to? As someone who has been coop with the wife recently, we have been mostly just abusing the summons. I use the beam weapon a shitload, too. Biggest disappointment for me is how meh most of the ranged weapons after earth are. Was it like that at launch?

Well, it's been a while and hard to remember exactly how I used to play it. I had Magnum +20 (Breath of the Desert), Beam Rifle +20 (Swarm), and Riven +10 equipped. Other max (or at least +9 or 19) weapons in my inventory are AR, Chicago Typewriter, Coach Gun, Xbow, Curse of the Jungle God, Defiler, Devastator, Hive Cannon, Hunting Pistol, Ruin, Spitfire, and SMG. So I guess I can probably cobble something together.

Only armor I ever used was Bandit. Though it looks like I upgraded Radiant to +19 for some reason, even though I never liked heavy armor in the game.

And yeah, the later ranged weapons were kind of meh, aside from Devastator which was completely broken with Bandit armor. Ruin and Defiler were alright, but kind of situational at best iirc.

Adventure mode wasn't a thing last time I played, so the hard part now is trying to remember if I had every item in the game or if there was anything I still needed to farm in later worlds but couldn't be bothered. I think maybe they added some new stuff in patches too?

They added a so heavy its completely unusable armor set along with a mod in a dungeon that sometimes spawns on earth. Armor just needs a simple clear, but the other stuff requires beating a DPS fest boss with..... wait for it.... chain stun AE and lots of adds! But the Beam Rifle w Explosive mod pretty much fucks him up (as does the lighting gun).

Beam Rifle is so fun to use.
I was just dicking around a little on adventure mode - hard and Beam Rifle damage seemed really weak. Do I need a specific mod on it and/or have to run Radiant armor set to make it worthwhile now?

Looks like the really good new stuff is gated behind doing a complete run of Hardcore mode.

Gotsta Radiant, explosive is pretty solid.

FML, really? I've never been a fan of hardcore.

There's a ring with 15% crit chance and 30% crit dmg buff for 7 seconds after a perfect dodge (Rhom boss), another ring with +25% to all damage if you haven't taken damage in the last 5 seconds (Yaesha boss), a third one that gives +30% ranged damage and -20% fire rate (Corsus boss), and an amulet that gives life leech equal to 4.5% of damage dealt in exchange for making healing items 95% less effective (final boss). I forget what the other two rings were, but they sounded like crap.

Edit: I see what people are saying about the game being way buggier now than at release. Created a new HC character, then not even 5 minutes into the game it crashed to desktop. When I tried to load the save it rebooted my PC. I can't remember ever crashing at all in the 50+ hours I had in it last year, or even any bugs worth mentioning for that matter.

Jesus who designed that final boss? Whole game has a fallout meets last of us meets stargate vibe with bosses that fit a consistent rules mechanic set and look. Then we end up with fucking generic anime big numbers shit fest raid boss at the end? Wife had me delete the game after fucking around trying to figure out whatever the fuck that thing was supposed to be. Such a jarring shift from the rest of the game, it pissed me off in an ME3 ending sort of way.

Last boss has dmg windows that you can exploit by getting high lvls of the buff you get from being inside the phased zone (longer you stay in, higher the buff). Come out when teammate says boss is in dmg window... then burn it.

Ok fine, but did it really need to be eight minutes of that after a whole this isnt even my final form trope?
