The story, again in retrospect, doesnt make a ton of sense to me.

There was for sure a lot of plotholes or head scratching moments. "This thing will create global anarchy!!! Oh well, time to destroy it!". Dude is so chaotic that he even is chaotic in choices regarding his plan lol

Voice acting was really good. I enjoyed Gideon as the bad guy until the last bits.

Zeno or whatever the fuck his name is sucked.

Pretty sure they designed the rest of the plot with a placeholder stand-in until later in development, an unnamed honcho from the Connections overseeing Gideon, and when the time came they threw darts at a board and landed on a Wesker clone. XxZenoxX is his account name, and that's why they had Mr. X return.

I thought it was pretty hilarious when you see old photos of Gideon and his research team at the Care Center and it turns out he has always been a 7 foot tall creepy dude amidst a team of perfectly average-looking researchers like it's normal to work under Professor motherfucking Lurch. He really took that Nemesis injection in stride, just gave him a slightly different skin tone basically.

OG Resident Evil 1, 2, 3 are available on Steam and GOG, however for some insane reason they slapped Enigma DRM on the Steam ones. No achievements or steam deck apparently.

Oh hey there is that "DLC" they ripped out of the game to sell as an add on.

Last Days takes place a few weeks after Resident Evil Requiem, and it retains the dynamic gameplay of Grace and Leon. In this, Leon has decided to retire from the Division of Security Operations (DSO) but accepts one last job, which sees him stepping foot back into Raccoon City for the very last time. This turns out to be a trap involving The Connections, who have targeted his home and his thus far unseen and unrevealed wife: Patricia. He turns to his reliable partner in crime, Ada Wong, as he attempts to save Patricia and uncover the connections between The Connections. Meanwhile, Grace has discovered a journal left behind by her mother, Alyssa Ashcroft, that has connections to The Connections. As players explore the present danger with Leon and Grace, they'll also explore the past via Alyssa and a surprise playable character, Zeno.

Capcom is a shit company that destroys their own story pacing in what would otherwise be fantastic games.

Friend and I have been playing RE9 one evening every week. Just did the third session. The game really grinds on. We wasted probably two extra hours in the big open area with Leon towards the end of the game, which kept us from finishing the game. The area with the giant spider. Just going around in circles. Most of the game is just (do amazing action scene) followed by (roam around lost for ten minutes looking for a switch or something) followed by (find a switch, need a lever or something for it, spend ten more minutes roaming around looking for that).

It's reminding me why I never actually liked the Resident Evil series for a long time outside of RE4. The only ones I was super into after that were RE8 and the RE2/3/4 Remakes. Was hoping RE9 would be more of what made RE8 good. Well, it's good when you're playing as Leon. There's way too much wandering around though. Last night started to feel like the game was wasting our time, since we refused to look anything up.

Welp, it'll be a fourth session and hopefully that's it, all we have left are
the RPD station and the Ark...I think we're pretty much done with outdoor Raccoon City since it took up the entire evening

the
RPD station
didn't really seem to serve a purpose outside of fan service.

I mean you could argue the whole Racoon City part was fan service, but it's the type of fan service I like since I used to play the hell out of the old PS1 RE games

Fair and same. I think having us do raccoon city during the day may have been a miss since it was kinda just bland. Night time Rac could’ve been dope.

Raccoon City Police station was already in at least 7 RE games, making the place as worn out as it looks in Requiem.

While it certainly was there for fan service, I thought RPD was also integral to telling Leon's RE9 story.

His arc is about how much he is haunted by his experience in Raccoon City, how he feels he failed to save people. He carries that guilt with him since then, and it's metaphorically Umbrella's Curse just as much as the dormant T-virus infection that's remerging in the survivors.

Leon likely only survived Raccoon City because he was one day late to his new assignment at RPD, his colleagues were going to throw him a welcome party, etc.. he is haunted that he couldn't save Marvin Brannagh, Robert Kendo's family, etc..

The RPD section in RE9 was short enough that I felt it didn't outstay its welcome, but it served its purpose narratively.
