Yes, they're not rejecting it because they are the opposite of independent. They have been captured already. They are just a mindless, subservient golem at this point, doing their Globohomo master's bidding.
The rank and file conscripts are definitely refusing to fight. I posted many videos to that effect. Protesting the war is illegal, along with freedom of press, freedom of speech, freedom of opposition, freedom to have a party that challenges the propaganda of the state apparatus.
There's not a single way that these people are independent. Their last legitimate election was the one before Maidan when they elected someone who wasn't a Globohomo stooge, who was... quickly putsched by Globohomo who ignored the independent decision of Ukrainian electorate.

these soldiers are kept in line with threats of prison, threats against their families, and literal threats on the front where the Hohol commissars spend more time pointing guns at the backs of their own Hohol soldiers than at Russian Army. That's why they fight. There are also massive amounts of better off Hohols escaping the country as "refugees" and refusing to return. These are men (and women) of military age. If they truly believe in this cause, why are none of the Ukrainians abroad returning to fight in this righteous battle for independent Ukraine? Why is it that instead more and more are fleeing, even men resorting to dressing up like women to sneak through borders out of Ukraine?
