The Sinners period casting he's doing for it is unusual. Unless he plans setting the FBI field office in the South. I feel like HBO "It: Welcome to Derry" already burned people out on all that type of racially charged setup, so it'll be interesting to see if it can generate any appeal at all.

what did this kang do to be able to be "XYZ's Whatever" rather than just "x-files"

Sinners. He's doing similar casting to the movie is the main beef. It's just going to be immersion breaking. At least Derry was set in a period where racially charged politics were still a thing. He looks to be doing a "modern South" take on X-files going from the casting.

Also, they greatly overestimate the crossover between X-Files fans and people who want to see black shit in all of their media.

The parts of Sinners that I liked I liked enough to look the other way on some things. There's just no way there's going to be a kickass folk singing Irish vampire to carry me through this show.

X-Files is a honky show with a lot of honky actors and a honky fanbase. It's really likely we're going to get another piece of legacy media that finds itself with no audience. It just isn't 2019 anymore. You signal to whites it's not for them and they'll take you at your word while simultaneously there's no black audience because blacks don't give a shit about the X-Files.

He could have cast black actors with more appeal to general audiences. Not enough thought went into this.

I don’t see how this will have any broad appeal unless he breaks with all his previous work. He’s a black identitarian who works primarily with black actors to tell black identity stories.

What does that actually mean ? That article says only one person has been cast so far, and the picture of her obviously isn't in character/costume for the show.

You'll see after the pilot is done filming. It's not period, but it's going to have things from period that don't exist outside of the imagination.

Why do I feel as though this version will be all about immigration. Aliens have a right to be a part of the United States even if they land illegally. We know who the new director will be.

Yeah this show is going to crash harder than a UFO.

Nu-Mulder looks at Nu-Scully and shows her a photograph. “Look at this face, he’s just as American as us. He’s just looking for a better life for his family. We must let them all in.”

Apparently to save makeup and practical effect costs they're just going to use ring camera security footage.

They want all your childhood happy memories defiled and destroyed so that your life has no joy to buffer against the bleak reality that they are going to kill all of us and exterminate our culture and race.

I always thought The Powers That Be wanted all of us happy/complacent/distracted by entertainment media. "Panem et circenses" and all that. Given that Americans are some of the least-rebellious people of all time, it worked.

This idea that they actually want us miserable is a new one to me, and historically speaking, isn't very conducive to suppressing the masses from turning on their masters.
