Early access on March 5th. Four player coop confirmed. If it is anything like the boardgame, coop will be excellent. 👍

This is pretty great. Something to finally fill the void of Hellcard after we all finished unlocking everything and stopped playing that some time ago.

I was a bit shocked how insanely well Mewgenics was doing. and then, looked back at slay the spire, etc. and mewgenics was blowing it away in terms of peak, etc.

Its nice, and interesting to see how slay the spire 2 however, is doing gangbusters. here's an article on that. slay the spire 2 obliterating mewgenics new record..

And dunking on Marathon is pretty hilarious. (they posted this at launch, so the numbers hadn't come in yet...)

I watched a streamer. he did have one astute issue. unlocking the characters. Ironclad>Silent>lich>?>defect...

monstertrain 2 did it much much better. starts with an entirely NEW host of characters. then unlocks the old ones later.

Only complaint is our full run tonight with 4 players was almost 3 damn hours, lol. Will be faster when we get more comfortable w/ all the characters and stuff, but only so much faster.

It was awesome though, and with the ability to save a run in progress makes all the difference in the word for longevity, as we've experienced with Across the Obelisk. Meanwhile games like Gunfire Reborn we love, but with no saving in multiplayer started to feel more pointless to play.

The entire development team for this game are the stereotypical mentally-ill Leftist commies from Portland that scream into the void on Bluesky, but at least they make a great game and it's absent of their trash ideology.

Before I knew anything about the studio, I spent 150 hours playing the first one. It was truly an enjoyable, addicting game. Still, I hate giving these pricks money, but if we don't reward 'good' behavior we're never going to have anything worth playing.

This doesn’t seem a whole lot different than the first one, not that it’s a bad thing. More iterative than evolutionary.

Creatives skew super left, it is just part of what makes their minds work. As long as they dont use their platform to preach their ideology, I'll play their good games.

Yeah, me and my buddies are totally addicted to this. It's so damn fun in co-op. We've had a couple successful runs now and are praying for more acts and/or decks to release.

I played a bit yesterday. my first thoughts after a night was, I do think Monster train 2 is better.

I didn't play co-op. But somethings about MT2 I was missing. the goofy story honestly. its silly, but does add to the experience.
10/12 clans(2 dlc). with 2 heroes each.

I kept thinking, man I wish there were 2 ironclads, 2 silents, etc. you know, same overall deck, but different starting relic, and starting cards.

i do prefer sts's map system.
healing after bosses is unexpected. does that go away with higher ascensions?

So far had the easiest time on the Silent.
"Draw/discard", "blur/backflip" "sly" and "murder".

Sly seems op. "Draw x, and discard x". lets you draw FIRST, then discard, including the cards you just drew. making sly so easy to make use of.
"murder" 3 ap cost. (2 when upgraded) deals 1 damage, +1 damage per card drawn this combat. crazy card, just scales like mad in any draw deck. it makes any boss fight a war for attrition with YOU being the boss basically. Any decent draw deck results in it getting +10- +20 per turn at least. and it doesn't even exhaust. so, you can just play it for 60 damage on turn 3 or whatever.. then 190 on turn 5..

MT2 also added some nice QoL like the turn rewind button but if you screw up in StS you need to restart the whole fight. Hopefully they add that in the future. I did like the new characters so while both games added over the original so far, MT2 is winning out for quantity.

I am forever addicted to the Defect and Creative AI making fights highly variable and making end boss battles become a silly pile of layered effects
