That's what we had before. They all break within a year or two. Problem with the cable that goes to the screen getting pulled loose and there's no way to get to it.
What is your mom doing with her phone?

Mine have always been indestructable. I keep them for years, a decade sometimes, until a network upgrade forces me to get a new flip phone that is similarly indestructable.

Once could be a fluke. If its happened more than once, IMO you should investigate WTF is going on. They don't normally break, ever.

Kharzette Kharzette update? Got moms all sorted ?
It has been allright. The spam filtering stuff works pretty good. Any call not from her contacts gets an immediate hangup. Sometimes there's a tiny hint of a ring and the screen does turn on for a bit, but it isn't bad.

She had a spill and tumble down the front steps last week so we had a long ER day and another in the hospital. I spent most of both days using the phone and it never missed a beat, which made me think most of the problems are just handling it with the screen on and touching randomly.

If you google around, it is a big problem with nokia flip phones. There's a small cable that connects the screen that goes thru the hinge and it gradually pulls loose.

It was an OK phone while it lasted, but she never used the contacts, just manually dialed everything.

I've used nokia flip phones for the last 20+ years and never had it happen. I abuse the shit out of these phones. One fell in the toilet (yes). One fell in saltwater. I drop them almost daily.

I've never managed to make one stop working.

I believe you that its happened but I'm just really curious why it would happen repeatedly to one user and never for another user. Something different about the phones or about how they're used?

The only guess I have is it might be related to her hobby. She loves to crack pecans. We have 2 pecan trees and people in town bring her bags full of them. Cracking those alot releases a little bit of this fine dust that probably doesn't help.

I used to do that for this old lady on my street WAY back when I was a kid. She'd make awesome pecan pie.
