Pretty poor game to be honest, if the best ManU can claim is a BS handball for a pen then I like LFC's chances at Anfield on Sunday.

Well nil-nil was the last thing I expected. Bleh. Some nice play in the 2nd half.

I honestly don't get the whole obsession over "the Man Utd (style of play) way". It's just a glorified West Ham really with better technical players. Get it wide, cross the ball in.

Moyes is trying to establish some threat down the wings. Something that teams stopped fearing last year. That doesn't mean, that it will be the only tactic he will be using.

Also, not that many goals come from crosses into the box last season.

Last season United had Valencia not performing, Young performing and being injured (so not a good service), and Nani who also was injured and out of form. Still managed 15pts or what have you league win without this whole 'get it wide and cross the ball in' idea of yours...

Ok let's rephrase that....Man Utd to me, look toothless against the top sides when they have to break down a defence.

Well, with Toure out there won't be much to break down this weekend.

I am not looking forward to that scoreline.

This is United. 30 years from now neither team should underestimate the other. I love to pile on United but come on now.

Interesting article on the Beeb today regarding how the UEFA coefficients work which explains how Arsenal keep making it into pot 1 despite not getting past the last 16 for a few years.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23680545

Three English teams in the top 10, Chelsea at 3rd, United at 5th and Arsenal at 6th... To be fair there is quite a gap between 5th and 6th but still, even I find it highly amusing that Arsenal are a single place below them. Last years finalists Borussia Dortmund were 60th at the start of that season, a massive five places above Bolton

More inane trivia, if Celtic fail to get past Shakhter Karagandy tonight their victorious opposition will be the lowest ranking team ever to make the group stages as they currently sit in 320th. Talking of Celtic, their reward for beating Barca in the group stages and making the last 16 was to enter in the 2nd qualifying round instead of last season third

For curious Liverpool fans(fools!)you are still in 17th but are expected to drop out of the top 30 in time for next season. Liverpool were ranked 2nd as recently as 2009/10.

That system is ridiculous. International football associations need some major reform. FIFA moreso than UEFA, obviously.

Lamela set for Spuds. Great signing I think. Read he was absolutely mortified to be leaving Roma... to be fair, I'd be pretty emotional too if I was set to join Spuds. Fener banned from Europe today - why did we have to play those douche bags again? Arsenal are so short on players at the moment, its frankly ridiculous. Good news though is the defense is playing well in spite of Koscielny's absence. Sunday will be a fun game - feeling pretty confident at the moment... Spurs look pretty ho-hum in open play, and if Arsenal don't give up a pk I think we'll win comfortably.

I'm genuinely fearing our chances of staying in the top 4 this season unless we bring in 3 more players (barring Flamini).

Et'o to Chelsea on a free thus ending the Rooney saga.

Podolski out for 8-10 weeks with a hamstring inury.

Good win for Celtic last night!

United v Liverpool in the NoOneCares Cup, the real Mighty Reds knocked out Millwall last night and are now away to the fearsome Burnley.

Meh, until Spurs actually do it I refuse to be worried by them. They've made some terrific signings, but where is the creative guy that will unlock defenses when teams decide to set up shop? I don't see one on the entire roster. Lamela is a goal scorer, Capoue isn't that guy, Chadli is pretty meh from what I've seen, and Paulinho... well he might be the key. If he can add a bit more forward play/creativity, they've got a shot. I see people, pundits, etc talking about Spurs' title chances and can't really get my head around that yet. Will be a fight for 4th as per usual.

As for Arsenal, I'm flabbergasted by the way they've approached this window and I don't understand their thinking. The starting 11 will just about take 4th, but any key injuries and this season could spiral out of control pretty quickly. 12 first team players available on 8/29 - unacceptable.
