Not saying it can't happen, but did you read the article?

"News of a reported deal for Klopp is set to be announced later today, according to Bosnian news outlet Pravdabl."

That accuracy of Bosnian news outlets though.

Yeah I read it and I read twitter. The rumor mill has me saying "Im so fucking Pumped!"

I'm guessing Klopp had already been approached and basically given a signal that he'll take the job. It sounds like FSG was going to fire him regardless of the Derby result which if true you wouldn't do something like that without someone else already lined up. Probably figured if they didn't do it now either the Chelsea job or another top job would come open that they would have to compete with to get Klopp and if they didn't then LFC would be looking at the likes of Eddie Howe, Monk, etc.

Personally I think Rodgers is a good coach, maybe not manager but coach, and I'll always have 2013/2014 to remember which was probably one of the greatest offensive English teams since the mid 90's Newcastle or the late 80's vintage LFC. Not winning the title was cruel and he did play a part in it. I'm sure he'll recover and go on to show it, just hopefully abroad and not the shit at Sunderland or Newcastle.

If Klopp does come then hopefully he doesn't get control of signings over the shitty committee. Gotta love Liverpool wasting huge amounts of cash on absolute shit and winning nothing in return.

The biggest wastes of money so far (Lallana and Lovren) were Rodgers signings. Pretty sure the committee will be just fine if they fit Klopp's system.

I'm looking forward to Klopp coming in but I also wonder if perhaps he might be a tad overrated.
He is probably an upgrade on Rodgers, yet I can't help but think Rodgers would be close to the same level had he won the league a few years back. ie a Manager that took a pretty talented squad and squeezed the most out of it. Of course Rodgers didn't, so we'll never know if he could have used that a launch pad for further success or not. But that's offset by being in a far tougher league, with so many more real competitors, and Klopp's success coming at a time when Bayern were relatively weak and vulnerable. He was also given more time to build up to his success, without being weighed down by the expectations that will come with the Liverpool job, and which clearly affected how Rodger's success if defined.

I can't help but think Klopp's success as much due to his being in the right clue, with the right support around him, as it is for his actual ability. The clearest area where he is an improvement over Rodgers would appear to be in signing new players, but we're not going to see any evidence of that for at least a year.

None of this would matter if the Carlo Ancelotti wasn't also available atm. I don't particular like Ancelotti's style and I'd much rather see Klopp bring the same sort of success to Anfield as he did for Dortmund, but it's hard to argue with Ancelotti's track record. Success with multi clubs, albeit with more talent and resources at his disposal than he'd have at Liverpool. I think he'd be the far better choice to bring success in the short term than Klopp. It also seems like he's the better choice to fix our most obvious failing, the defense. It's hard to say whether Klopp is a better option for building long term success. Dortmund haven't exactly flourished since is departure so you can't really say he built a solid foundation there, though it's not really comparable since Bayern focused on taking their best players.

Klopp wasn't responsible for the Dortmund signings and has been pretty clear in his career that that's not what he's interest in. I'm sure he had input but Zorc was and still is the DoF at Dortmund. If you think hiring Klopp is going to change our transfer dealings then I wouldn't hold my breath sans we may look for different players that more suit his style of play. I also think you're underselling how good Bayern still were when Dortmund won their league titles, at it's core it's the same team as it is now with the 2nd title coming after losing Goetze to Bayern. Last years Dortmund from a statistics standpoint was just as good as previous years just they couldn't convert their chances and the GK seemingly fell of a cliff which is why Tuchel isn't playing him now. Dortmund is clearly the 2nd best team in the Bundesliga as they were undefeated in all competitions until this past weekends thrashing by Bayern, did you even watch that game? It was 2-1 when Pep turned the game on it's head with a formation change and world class subs which Dortmund couldn't match. When Klopp took over they were debt riddled and mid-table, how is that not an improvement?

Ancelloti's league record is actually pretty terrible for the clubs he's been at. Not that he's not a fantastic coach, but he's never coached at a club that wasn't the most expensive or almost the most expensive club in the league.

Lets me honest here, you have wasted a huge amount of cash for the almost no trophy return in the last 20 years, No other club has spent the amount you have with so little in return.

No trophy return in 20 years? Ok then.

Yet, ManU has spent more than we ever have in the last 3 years and what do you have to show for it? A philosophy?

"Almost" no trophy. I see reading isn't your strong point.

Spending for the last 20 years on players. That is quite some haul for 1.1 billion in spending. How many have United won in the same period btw?

Again, you've outspent the entire league the last 3 years. What do you have to show for it?

You have spent as much as united in the last 20. What do you have to show for it? Aside from a next year is our year attitude.

Pretty great article by my favorite sports writer re: Kloppo, Liverpool and expectations. Think he makes some good points.

The Unbearable Lightness of Klopp: What Liverpool

As for me, I think Klopp will be a success, but not this season as I don't think Liverpool have the players to fit his system yet. With some investment and a clear, focused direction though I think he will definitely have some success. A bit disappointed Arsenal didn't end up with him, but it seems they'll give the job to Bould when Arsene retires. I reckon they'll run the 4th spot close, but regardless of the manager I just don't think Liverpool have the players to go much higher.... yet.

I don't know how anybody can't but come away as impressed from watching him talk today. He certainly has the LFC fan base riled up and united which it probably really hasn't been since Rafa's last year.
