But revisionism? That's so completely wrong on all accounts. Inglorious Basterds ran with full Nazi symbols in the cinemas here. Again (number 4 this time, eh?) the banning of Nazi symbols here is intended against nazi skinheads from running around with Swastikas and SS runes on their shirts and flags. There are plenty of exhibits here showing everything that happened with all its gory details. All this self imposed censorship stems from Wolfenstein 3D being banned from sale here in 1992, when really no one considered video games art or culture, and no one wants to risk having another title banned from sale here. Again, it's just sales, it's perfectly legal to own Wolfenstein 3D, to buy it in the UK and import it here. Uncensored Verions of Wolfenstein The New Order or South Park haven't been banned here, because that ruling can only come from a court if these versions are being sold here - this is not the same as a PEGI rating, but no one tried selling any of these games since 1992.
Even better, when it came out, they had forgotten to remove a swastika somewhere in WTNO, and everyone lost their shit and they pulled it back, but no DA filed charges, no court banned it from sale until a revised version was released. Because the people in charge today are not the people in charge 20 years back, and video games get a lot more leniency today regarding content than in the early 90s.
