Seems like it's not an uncommon thing in the industry to put out a relatively high quality season 1 and then just phone it in for any future seasons.

But there's also some insane tonal whiplash. Relatively light-hearted triumphant underdog story throughout season 1 and while they did foreshadow things going in a much darker direction with the ending arc, jumping straight to a fucking bloodbath where they kill two of the most important people in his life and he goes super blandaiyan is a major wtf.

oh i totally whiffed on that, so i guess him still standing with 80% of his torso missing wasnt just an anime thing.

Rosty repeatedly cockblocking the female LI was one of the funniest parts of S1.

I’ll let this arc pass before I pass judgement, because first season there were some parts animated way above the rest of the season, eg the ed fight. I’m not liking it as much as season 1 but I’m still entertained.

Sometimes anime’s just go balls deep on some episodes. Like handyman in another world’s demon fight which had more animation work than the rest of the season combined.
