Jesus christ that trailer really, really highlights everything wrong with Star Citizen. Chris Roberts is a failed movie maker and never got the memo. Why has so much money been wasted on these massive cinematics with A/B celebrities? Whelp, I know why, actually, to keep people paying thousands of dollars for ships made out of 2d pixels.

The best part of it is that remarking this on the official reddit is going to score massive downvotes before being banned, because the people on there still haven't noticed what a monumental scam this is.

The new trailer is way way better than the older ones though.
Like yeah the game is still a bunch of shit and an overpriced scam scheme, but graphically you can clearly see massive improvements over time. Even the last time they showed Squadron42 shit to now is a huge improvement. The main issue as always is they're not really making much content and just adding features and tech tricks and what not instead of making the goddamn game first and then improving it. Like they have this new flowing cloth tech and it looks fucking awesome, but you still can't go to many planets to explore because they haven't fucking made these yet.
There's a couple of them in the roadmap along with AI fixes(which was definitely not even close to ready for this show) and performance improvements(which a lot of ppl complain about, and even with top tier computer, you still get crashes and shit, like they did at their own conference), but it doesn't look like they have any plans to even attempt to release by the end of 2020 at the speed it's going.

Can the engine manage above 30fps when there's much of anything on the screen yet? Anytime I try to watch someone play it on twitch, their performance is dogshit

Considering there is 6 years between the trailer I linked and the one you linked, I'd say improvements are marginal at best.
Sure, it looks better, but technology has advanced and so has hardware. The top cards of 2012 were the 7970 with 3gb ram, and the GTX 680 sli with 2gb ... considering the game will launch in 2020 at best, they will continue to play "catch up" with technology & hardware and ultimately deliver a mediocre looking game for that era.

2020 isn't going to happen. Look at the progress they've made in 6 years. They will always be playing catch up until they eventually run out of die hard supporters or get sued into the ground and then they'll rush to release a pile of garbage.
I honestly feel sad for the brainwashed drones that still believe in this. You can tell most of them know deep down they've been duped, but just desperately don't want to accept it.

If this was any other industry, the people in charge would have long been sued for fraud and their practices would have been shutdown. The video game industry is that one special industry, where both industry people and a large part of their customers are complete retards, so anything goes. Besides the entertainment sector, I don't know any other sector remotely as immature.
Belgium already cracked down on lootboxes, those are no longer allowed to be sold, I'm sure if someone sent a summary of the SC project to the right European representative, their site would be blocked in Europe, like other scam sites are. The people that block Valve and EA from selling lootboxes won't have any problem shutting this thing down overnight.

I've dropped something like 400 on this and am done. Sure i may see nothing of the "Final" game but I really don't care, 400 isn't a be all end all amount of money for me. It's an amount I wanted to spend on something new and interesting, like people dropping thousands on rigs to mine crypto.
My thought is, if the game washes and nothing comes of it but what we have, "Meh, Oh well."
Sure, it may be a scam but damn are they putting a "lot of effort" into a scam.
Comparatively to things like Mass Effect, seeing this game start from basically a rolling negative start to becoming this in a few years, it's pretty impressive on a lot of fronts.

Asking for governments to regulate what can and can't be in video games is asking for trouble. Pic related. Also parents need to take charge of what their kids play on their phones and consoles, not my problem if they give little Kaeden their Amex and he charges a bunch of shitty Fortnite skins.
