The Star Citizen reddit is a fantastic example of molded and controlled groupthink, highly worthy of study by a wide variety of people: fiction authors, psychologists, future tyrants, cult depogrammers, "Nudge"-theorist technocrats, grifters, you name it. There's a lot to learn from this online fraud, a quarter of a billion of dollars amassed on hopes and dreams. No charlatans in the New Age or UFO community has done as well, to my knowledge.*
The /r/starcitizenrefunds counter-narrative provides needed balance and an escape valve for those defrauded by this online scheme.

I think SC has evolved beyond being a fraud / scam. Instead it's just an early access buggy and boring game with incredibly priced cash shop options. The game isn't going to evolve much, there's no massive release on the horizon.
To CIGs credit, i predicted they'd have closed down shop by now, being incapable of sustaining their costs with a massively declining base of whales.
