Check again in a week, they're about to have their big IAE sale they have every November. And there's a capitol ship going up for sale which I'm sure will "sell out".

Add me as one of the new suckers, I've bought a Salvation for game access after playing the Fly Free for a few days. This has been one of the most buggiest and frustrating experiences I think I've ever had. There's just nothing like it though, and I've had a shitload of fun.

Am I getting gaslighted? Everything I’ve seen of ‘gameplay’ just makes this feel more like a scam. Like , how is this not a scam at 900 mil? And how is it not a bigger news story? This has to be a massive money laundering operation yet no one is investigating

Really nothing different than the 100 gacha games that make billions per year praying on people with in game shit tied to actual progression. /shrug At least here you CAN buy a cheap ship for $35 or whatever the fuck and play the game without spending another cent, and actually earn 95% of those ships people spend $1000s of dollars on in game just by playing it. The other 5% are off limit new ones for like 6 months or whatever and then you can earn those too, ie. buy them with in game currency.

I watched a streamer like a year ago do a zero to hero WITHOUT a ship, like on foot! And he ended up with like 3-4 ships at the end when he stopped.

I haven't played in a while, but regardless of whether it's a scam or not, or if it's ever going to be finished, there's something special about the gameplay experience.

It walks a fine line between being tedious and being fun. There's just something unique about the whole thing. It's easy to understand the dream it creates in people.

I think in a few years, they'll go into an early access model and be there for another 5-10 years. Progress is just too slow for anything else.

This game is a mess - but man, it is a really immersive mess, at times. It scratches a different itch. Something approximating an "immersive sim" itch. I've played maybe 10 hours and haven't laughed so hard at a game in a really long time.

they have zero incentive to finish the game

as long as its not finished, heaps of money keep flooding in, and the product can't be judged

I tried this with Free fly (aka 0$ invested). I had a few online buddies who played it so why not. The visuals are neat, and I appreciate the slowish pace. But I joined his group, went off in one of his ships with a few pilot seats, then the server promptly booted me while zoning out of the surface of the starting planet (Orison). It would not let me log back in, attempts were made for 30 minutes.

That sums up my 31 minutes of Star Citizen time.

From memory they have annual sales of the starter packs. Real cheap, like $35 from memory, its been a while. Anyways it kept on crashing on my old system, havent tried on the new one. The old one had problems with certain games which would hard crash the thing, not only this game. So anyway at the time I just gave up. But I had a mining rig going and making some real cash. Too bad about the crashes though.

Oh, now I remember, for a certain time every year they let you use some of the ships for free is what the deal was. I chose the mining rig.
